Scott, you're right. I just wasn't sure if you were near the UP. Figured with a unique name like "Brule", it might be the same town.

Henry, what kind of war is going on between Manitowoc and Two Rivers? I've been gone too long to know.

Von Genaddi Designs is Mark Gerisch's business. As far as I can tell he is still in Two Rivers. I have seen one of the 250 GTO spyders he created. It is very impressive. I am also from Indiana and have been going to Elkhart Lake for 25 years now. It is such a beautiful part of the country. I look forward to it every summer.

Henryk,
There will be a Ferrari club hospitality tent and car park outside turn 14 this weekend at the historic races.
I,m from Indiana and have been going to RA since 1965. Often we stay in Two Rivers and have spent many weekends at the Lighthouse Inn. A couple of extra days of R&R is often included. Just love this area. There was a guy in Two Rivers by the name of Mark Garrish(sp?) who used to hammer out aluminum bodies for Ferraris. Used to visit his shop and he always had some very special that he was working on. He was making a Testa Rossa for the drummer in Pink Floyd the last time I was there many years ago! Do you know of him or is he even still around?
Can't make it to this years Historics. The first one I have missed since Joe Marchetti started them. I have a board of directors meeting that weekend. Poor date planning.

Jack, no. I'm very close(30 miles)to Duluth, MN. Isn't the "Brule" you are refering to in MI? Curious cause I've been asked that before.

Jack: The restaurant is Al Johnson's. That place is crowded (actually packed) throughout summer. I believe it is in Sister's Bay. The goats are eating the green grass right off the roof. The whole roof is covered with grass. Really wild!!! I have seen as many as 6-8 goats at a time. It is a Swedish palace, known for there Swedish meatballs, but all there food is very good.....the price is not bad.

Scott, is that Brule, as in Brule/Homestead ski resort? Used to go up there every winter in high school and college. Lots of fun.

Henry, a good friend of mine was married in DC 3 years ago, and has since moved to Appleton. Didn't have the Ferrari back then, but I think it would be a fun area to drive around. What's the name of the place with the goats on the roof?

Ken: I just got through with my Sunday cruise. I had a late lunch in Sturgeon Bay......and went to Fish Creek for an ice cream cone.....took my 83 Boxer.

Sorry to hear that you can't bring your Lotus. I had a 95 S4S, and with it's superior handling, it was just a BLAST to drive through the 2-lane back roads. I took the ferry, with the Lotus, to Washington Island.....found the one cop on the island......headed in the other direction and "let her rip".

There's a very twisty road near Gills Rock. Took it so hard in an 88TR that the left upper seat bolster fell off!!!!!

I would be glad to store your Lotus here in brussels for you.....HaHa!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care.

My family goes to Door County almost every year. We always stay in Ephrim and always have the best time; the kids love all the things there are to do. I always want to tow my Lotus along but alas my wife has no sense of humor!

Nick: I don't know of Rex Clean. I only go there once a month to meet with my accountant.....it is a beautiful 1 hour drive through the country, in the Ferrari. FYI there is still a war going on between the people of Two Rivers and Manitowoc.

Bill: There are a LOT of beer drinkers in WI....easpecially in the country where I live (Brussels). This town of about 100 people has 2 churches, Post office, grocery store, and FOUR bars. When Chicago people talk of "WI hefers", they aren't refering to cows!!!!

Scott: I will be at Road Amer. next Saturday. I used to take my Ferrari, but the corral is no more.....I don't want to have to keep checking on my car. Check out the car auction at the Osthof Resort, a few miles away, on Fri. and Sat. eve. They have over 100 cars, and it is a great car show in itself!!!!!

I won't be able to go this year Scott. Too many family obligations. My mom's family is from Ironwood, Mi. which is probably about 80-100 miles from you. It's the last town in Michigan, across the Montreal River from Hurley, WI.

Henryk,
I live up here 20 miles south-east of Duluth/Superior, in a place called Brule. I live right on the Brule river and its great. Our driving season is pretty short but you take what you can get.

Bill,
Don't know if you knew this but this upcomming weekend 19-21st is the Brian Redman Challenge at Road America. Its a fantastic vintage event and this year they are featuring historic F-1 cars I beleive, it should be great. Its always really tough to find rooms for the weekend on such short notice though, closest I've found is Fond Du Lac (45 mintues)

I'm in Michigan but I've had the pleasure of riding the ferry across Lake Michigan from Ludington to Manitowoc. A purely midwestern experience if there ever was one. The boat usually landed about midnight and the bars would be overflowing and drunks filled the streets. Wisconsin takes it's beer seriously!!

It's my preferred way to get to Road America. It's been years. I need to go back.

Oh yeah, just remembered... When we went to the Seatle/Packer game (Packer fans literaly took over the town that weekend) My wife and I ran into some folks from Two Rivers. They knew my Uncle & Aunt. What a small world! To everybody elso reading this: Two Rivers population is about 15-20 thousand, I think. My Uncle and Aunt own "Rex Clean" a huge cleaning Co. in Mid-West. Have you ever heard of Rex Clean, Henry?

Two Rivers, I remember riding my Huffy bicycle with my friend to Two Rivers when we were about 10 years old. Memories.... What the hell were my Mom & Dad thinking? I had NO leash! (they had no idea).

Nick,

Next Wednesday, I will meet my accountant, for our monthly 3 hr lunch at the Lighthouse Inn, in Two Rivers (remember Trivers?). We do this monthly.

Wisconsin, as you note, is a terrific place, in the summer......but, in January, I would rather be where you are. Of course, global warming is making Wisconsin better every year. We haven't had 20 below in the last 4 winters.

Hi Henry,
I live in Ventura CA. but grew up in Manitowoc WI. We went back there for a vacation a few years ago (in '96 when the Packers won the Superbowl) Went to the Monday night game against the Eagles! Bought some good tickets in the parking lot for face value minutes before the game started. Talk about lucky. Saw them play in Tampa Bay, Oakland, & Seatle that year. Talk about a cool experience at Lambeau, at night. Also went to a Door County fish boil! Anybody who
has never been there needs to go to a fish boil. Very different from Southern California. Its neat going regional things like that. Great area!
My wife loved it, she was born and raised in So. Cal. and thought Wisconsin was awesome.

I live in Door Co., WI. It is a beautiful place. Population is 10,000 in the Winter, and 250,000 in the Summer. A very tourist place, with many people coming from Chicago to enjoy the shops, dining, boating and water, in the Summer. Door Co. has more miles of land on water than any other county in the USA!!!!!!!(including Florida)

Are there any other Ferraris here, besides mine?

We passed a 456 in Egg Harbor last weekend.....I was driving my 83 Boxer, and my nephew, with his girlfriend, was driving my 88 TR......we saw him....honked the horns.....he didn't see us......he must have been distracted by the kids in the back seat!!!!!!

When I do see a Ferrari, it is usually from ILL.

How many of the readers have been to Door Co.?
