Im studying engineering. Im not sure which field, but probably mechanical because i like mechanical things. I have a year to decide my field though. If i dont go with mechanical i will probably go with electrical or civil, but im not too concerned with that right now. I'm just enjoying the end of my senior year (responsibly, sort of). |

Tim man all I can tell you is to keep chugging along and you have made the right choice. Going to college is the first step in getting a awesome Ferrari. It was what drove me for four years to study my butt off and put in the hours doing homework at U of Wisconsin-Madison. I always dreamed from when I was a little kid of having a Ferrari and now because of college and hard work my dream is a reality! Heck I'm in my early and I have what I always wanted....well I have a 348 instead of a F40 or a 288GTO, but that will come someday! Good luck in school my man. What are you going to study? |

If anything is within 5 hours driving distance from NYC i will go. Its just good to see cars like that. It gives me some motivation in school. If it werent for cars i dont think i would have been accepted to college yesterday. Even though it was only Western New England, and it was my safety school, it was still good to know im going somewhere, they even offered me a $6,500 a year academic scholorship. |

Tim hold on to that dream, I never, ever thought I would have one. Just 6 years ago I could not believe I just bought a 1977 Fly yellow 308 GTB with 18,000 miles! I could not sleep, I sat in the garage and just stared at that 308, it was so beautiful! 6 years later my wife Dana and I have had to make some significant sacrifices to buy the F40, but so far I have not regretted it one minute, I go to Cavallino, FCA and Concourso Italiano, every year, let me know if you are going, I would love to give you a ride! |

Today i went to Miller Motorcars. Bailey, the Maserati salesman took me into the shop area where he showed me by far the most amazing peice of machinery in the building. It was an F40. Pictures dont do them justice. they are sooo wide and low. They really look fast standing still. My goal is to have one before someday. |

Yep you really cant get better than sex, well besides sex with two girls :0) j/k ....but if there is one thing that gets close it is driving a Ferrari wide open, that and smoking some rice rocket racer thinking he can keep up with you on the track!! |

Andrew, both my friend and I have competition exhaust's from Tubi, This refers to the muffler assembly. This is a more aggressive system than Tubi's Sport system, basically they are straight pipes, it is better than sex! Don't let me scare you, it is not too loud, it just makes it sound like a pure Ferrari race car. Turbo cars are inherently quieter, your dad will like it, you will love it! I think the muffler runs about $2,500 (?). I am still running cats on my car (no flames, but it still sounds great!). My friend has Tubi baffles in place of cats. I think they are about $2,100 (+/-)as well. You are probably looking at about $5,700 installed. Contact Chris Hill at Autosport Gallery (913)402 1710, tell him I told you to call, he will try to help your dad on the cost of the Tubi system. Now I should mention, the wastgate on the car has to be recalibrated, otherwise it creates so much more boost it will pop the waste gate everytime you accelerate and the electronic engine management shuts down the ignition. Chris Hill can help you with this as well. I don't know what the increase in horsepower is, but it is very noticable. Congratulations on the F40! Please let me know if I can help. |

I heard 1 day Benny in his F40LM & another guy in a 333SP were going at it at Summit Point, Benny was breaking traction at 150 mph & swearing at the 333 driver the whole way |

Tim, please do, I love to share my cars with fellow Ferrari lovers. It is great to see my friends drive the F40 and see how long that silly grin stays on their face! We live out in the country on a small ranch, we designed our driveway as a gokart track, it is concrete and over 1/2 mile long with 9 corners, chicanes and a wicked corkscrew!. We have 3 briggs Karts and 4 shifters that we can run on the "track" at the house, it is a blast, You need to try it at night! nothing like running 80 mph in the dark! We have club events here, and we can't keep gas in the karts! Almost as much fun as the F40! All Ferrari friends welcome! |

F355 0-140mph in 23s F40 0-140mph in 14s!!!! Chris, you're F355 can't hold a candle to your F40. I have heard an F40 on numerous occasions - the most memorable being when the driver of a yellow (yes yellow!) one, literally blasted away in the wet (!) out of the Maranello Sales dealership in Egham - engine SCREAMING as he got wheelspin on puddles of standing water.... That screaming, high-pitched engine note, overlaid with exhaust bass and cam shriek..... leaves me weak at the knees. One day fellas...one day. P.S. London rocks! Chris, if you ever ship your F40 over, look me up - a ride will make my day! |

Hey Chris, indeed I want an F40 someday. I have driven 2 F40s...one was stock with a Tubi, the other was mildly breathed on to the tune of 570 HP. Talk about a wonderful car, the F40 is an unbelievable car. If you ever get out of an F40 without a big smile, then you are probably dead. I love the F40s, and will have one soon. Soon can be anywhere from a year to 10 light years. Ahhh to see a turbo car shoot flames, just brings warmth to my heart. |

There is a guy in town (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) who bought an F40 last year. I havent talked to him personally, but am good friends with the broker who aquired the car for him and he supposedly drives it regularly. I have some good pictures of the car being developed as we speak. I will then try to find a scanner to post them for everybody to enjoy.

Frank, it is certainly a toss-up between a 288GTO and a F40. If I only had one Ferrari and I had to chose between a GTO and a F40, I probably would chose a 288. Much more civilized, more comfortable, beautiful and rarer. Maybe my wife can get a 4th job and I can have both! I can only dream! |

Manu, you could drive it in traffic, I don't think you would have an overheating issue. The clutch is firm, but manageable. Vision out the back can be an issue, you won't be jumping lanes! Power, well that is a different issue. The 2nd day I owned my F40 I was on a 4 lane hiway at about 80 mph and accelerated to pass a slower car (they are all slower!)and the back wheels broke loose! Not much turbo lag, but this thing hits like a ton of bricks if you are into the throttle. I have a 355 with a Tubi, I thought it was fast, but this car literally makes the F355 feel VERY slow, it does make you appreciate what a great car the 355 is for ease of driving and how tossable that car is. Bottom line, can you drive to the office? yes but probably not everyday. Hey I love London by the way I was there twice last year, in fact we spent Christmas and New Years there, it was cold, but I love London! |

Chris, Congratulations on your purchase - Absolutely fantastic! Perhaps one day in the future, by the grace of God, I may be in a position to buy an F40 but in the meantime I'll derive my pleasure from your experiences. I wanted to ask you: 1. Is the immense power delivered in controllable waves or is it 185bhp@ 2500rpm and then 450bhp@ 3000rpm.... 2. Is there any turbo lag.... 3. Can it really be driven..say through Central London (where I live) on a hot summer morning in stop-start traffic for a couple of hours.

Very cool Chris, the F40 is The classic of te 90s, I like it better than the F50. I have a few freinds with F40s. Eddie has an F40 & a 288GTO, Benny Caiola has 1 or 2 F40s including an F40GTE & an F40LM, dunno if he has a road F40 anymore but he's got a 512TR & a Pagani for the road rough life. Charles has a 288GTO. I have a 308 QV & a 512TR |

Willis, heat so far has not been an issue, but I bought it in October and I live in Kansas, so we only have two seasons, winter and July, so I will have to let you know as it heats up around here. I ALWAYS let the car idle a long time before I drive it to get the water AND oil tempature up. My driveway is about a 1/2 mile long and I go pretty slow so the water temp is running about 250 degrees as I get to the garage, if I let it idle it will come up to 290 or so, so I generally shut it down without a long idle period to keep the tempatures down. |

I'd like to add a F40 someday. The more information about the car the better for us aspiring F40 owners. I heard that heat and turbos can be problematic. Is this true? |

I have owned a 308GTB, a 348TB, and a Daytona. I still have a F355 and a Dino. Last October I had dinner with my friend Chris Hill (30+ years as a Ferarri tech) and Steve Patterson (F355 and a 275GTB short nose) The question came up if I could have any Ferrari I wanted (within reason) what would it be? My answer was an F40. My problem was that for the last coulpe of years I had talked to different F40 owners and they were all over the place in regards to if it was a viable car for occasional use. Well my problem was solved when an F40 became available at a "can't pass it up" price (my kids really don't need a college education!). For the record, damn fun! Not a primary driver, but close. Comfortable, incredable speed, it makes my F355 feel a little slow. So far I have put about 1 thousand miles on it with no problems. I have let most of my friends drive it with no complaints. I should mention that you can not see out of the back at all, so changing lanes involves stepping on the gas and making a hole! Do you buy one? yes, if you have a 308 or 328, 348, 355 or 360 to drive most of the time. I would love to hear from other F40 or 288GTO owners and how they feel, or anyone that has an opion on these cars, thanks Chris |
