FOA no longer sells floor mats. They told me today that Ferrari North America had chased down all of the people making the mats and forced them to stop. There are now no suppliers.... and FNA does not offer 308 mats. So, they must be custom made or go without.

FNA sure makes it hard to love this company. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

At least us Supra guys argue over "should I convert to a single or keep the twin turbo set up".

I thought these types of arguments only happened on the mustang boards, but I guess this shows that we are all human and make mistakes sometimes, regardless of what type of car you drive.

Just so everybody knows, I posted a link to this thread in the Porsche forum. :-)

So.......my 75 308GT4 has a set of red and black checked sisal mats. I haven't seen those since my 72 BMW 2002Tii days, back in the early 70's. Is anyone familiar with these? Was it a fairly standard fitment at some point? They are getting a little tired looking and perhaps I should save them for special occasions as they fairly reek of 70's essence (that is style, not odour).
Anyway, carpet for me next time........thanks for the tips, those who have posted.

I'm suprised Ferrari didn't have that wrapped up a long time ago like Disney, Warner Bros. etc. That's usually standard business with those big boys.

First of all I want to apologize in advance, to anyone that I may piss off about what I am about to say...
I called Daniel's last week. He told me that as of 28 Feb. (due to a court ruling) we can no longer obtain mats with Ferrari logo's, model #'s, etc. unless the manufacturer is paying Ferrari a licencing fee to do so. His supplier isn't so he is out of the hunt if you want anything other then plain mats for your Ferrari. I have no idea if the other suppliers that are mentioned on this thread are affected as well. We may be unable to buy from anyone other then authorized Ferrari dealers if we want "something Ferrari" stitched in them. Now, that dealer mark up thing may be a real problem here.

Wow, depart for a week and come back to this thread of interest... this was scarier than a Tom Clancey novel. Maybe FC's next venture can be www.ferraribloodpressurechecks.com.

Anyway, we were discussing floor mats, right? I made the foolish mistake of purchasing Lloyds Mats through FOC (while traveling on biz). This was 2 years ago. Like all good Ferrari dealerships, I'm now convinced FOC marked their cost up about 2.5... and yap, I took the hook.

I've seen the same Lloyds mats for Ferrari's sell on eBay for $80. Personally, I would rate the quality of Lloyds mats as "fair". In my car the fit is not quite perfect and the edges tend to curl a bit. BTW, the matching Lloyd's color for my red/tan 328 is "Palomino", not tan... at least I got that right.

John:

My 355 doesn't leak. all of the 348s that I had did. I don't know about the 360s but from looking at the design of the top for the Sypder, it looks like it is designed to leak. Time will tell.

Magoo: I've been working this week (rare occurance, so I didn't make any of those calls.

My Keith Collins mats smell like mildew (after 14 years, 17K miles). My condensate drain plugged & made them wet one time. I have cleaned them numerous times, but the smell is still there when you turn them over & snort the backing dust - awchew!. I guess it's the wool. Nylon would be much better for a car, moisture wise, as I have yet to meet a Ferrari that didn't leak in rain/washing. Also, the horse is just glued on to the backing & is starting to delaminate. However, they still look great when right side up. I use the Collins mats on the bare fiberglass of my 328 & they really don't move around much. This is the best thing about them. I even kept them in the car at Talladega. I keep the original snap-in carpet inserts underneath my guestroom bed, as new (still partially wrapped in factory plastic). T-Rutlands sells the same mats as Ferrari of Atlanta for about $10 less. I will get them next, when I feel like spending $100. I just have a concern about them staying in place. They are made to lay on carpet, not fiberglass. I'm also concerned that the embriodery might be slippery when a passenger enters. The Collins horse insert is plush. With the Collins mats in, you can't tell I have the original carpet under my bed. Sure, I'm anal about the original carpet, but honestly, the Collins mat is too thick to use with the snap-in carpet. It rides too high and slides over the gas petal guard, causing a mysterious high idle.

Hey, I had the pleasure of meeting the now famous Chris (because of this thread) today. I know Magoo won't believe me, but he's a class act and about as passionate about Ferrari as anyone can be. I met him over at Autosport Gallery here in KC (more on them in other posts) and then we went over to his house. Oh my gosh!!! Beautiful country side estate with a gorgeous 3 stalls for the prancing horses. A F40, F355, and 246 GT. Custom murals painted on the walls (Ferrari themed of course). Chris also has the basement of his house all to himself. Guess what the theme is? 3 rooms of nothing but Ferrari... a huge library, models collection, sectional red leather furniture, desk made from front end of real 355, chairs made from real 348 Speciale seats, all his team clothing, and more and more and more. I enjoyed talking for several hours with Chris about this common passion we all share. If you met him, you would appreciate his humor too, he's a funny guy. I took several pictures of his cars, I'll post them this weekend if Chris doesn't mind. Oh, my wife couldn't make it to KC this trip, so no pictures of Jennie and Chris. ;)

Same thing like Fred, I thought: "Floormats? Boring!" Well don't I get this surprise!

By the time I post this, it looks as if everybody has kissed-and-made-up.

Why is it that saving money always causes hot debates here at FC? What's wrong with that?

Hello Robert, how's everything going for you "across the bridge" ?

You'll like the Lloyd Mats -- good price and great quality too (especially the stitched logo / horse)! I bought a set for the 308 a couple of months ago from www.autoseattle.com and have no complaints -- except the cut-out around the accelerator pedal was a hair too far forward (just have to make sure the mat is pushed back a little so as to keep the RPM's down ). Sounds like you've found a set for a good price, though -- you'll really like them.

I am poor and have no mats....but when I save enough money....I seen a guy on ebay who has been selling Llyod logo mats for 109.95. If anyone is interested I can give you his phone number to get some. I think they look pretty good..I think my shoes might like them. I think that someone out there might like them too........What is a Rolex? is it something you write phone numbers on? Oh wait that is a Rolodex......hehe

I have a customer that puts an inexpensive carpeted floor mat over his factory carpeted mats then a towel over the cheap mats and then newspaper over the towel. I thought floor mats were supposed to be sacrificed to preserve the carpet. DUH!

Well, well, well. What do we have here. I don't bother to click on the floormat section because it looked boring. Then a fellow Ferrari chatter tells me to take a look over here and there is all kinds of action going on. Just like the old saying goes I guess. You can't judge a thread by its title.....or something like that. Kathy not bad. You went from 0-5 posts in a couple of hours. The only thing is you forgot to give that book you posted a title.:-)

There are some very nice girls that pop in on occasion, Nika, Dina (wherever she is now), Rob's girlfriend posted here a couple times, her little sister, there is a swell lady with a 355 (I can never remember unless I see her name, it's like DBO or something acronym like), Sarah who just got a 456, etc.

Richelson, I only have one car, a 360 Spider. I was in the Porsche club for years and I saw this type of thing happen before. Just because I am new to FC and a women doesn't mean I can't have a voice, I get that attitude at the hospital. I have been reading FC since I got my car in December, this was just something I felt strongly about. I am not choosing sides. Can we drop this? I hope the best for Magoo and Chris, that is what is best for everyone!

Kathy, I think that you are out of line. I don't understand your post. I just don't understand why you got onto Magoo especially with such intensity. I think $400 is quite a large sum of money for floormats but it is up to the individual. Bringing in someones wife is going overboard IMHO. I understand your anger but lets keep this on the level. I think that is getting extremely personal. Magoo is my friend and I don't want to see him being hassled for no good reason especially over floormats. You have a nice stable of cars, enjoy them and be thankful for what you have but not everyone can spend that kind of money on floormats etc.

Whenever my car needs a new set of floor mats, I have it placed in a sealed, temperature controlled shipping container and have it delivered to Maranello, Italy. There, the folks at the factory can design a brand new, custom-tailored set for my car. This way, I am guaranteed fitment and quality, and I KNOW they are original Ferrari items. They only cost me $6,798.33. Not bad, but only the best will do for me...

Rather than pick on Chris or Magoo, I'll just say that for the most part personal attacks don't go very far online, especially when it's someone that you don't really know yet. There's a lot of sarcasm/humor lost in typing something that is meant to bust balls a little and it always comes off being an a$$hole comment no matter how well you word it. Trust me, this has happened quite a few times here.
Hey Magoo likes his mats which I'm sure are good coming from the dealership and Chris likes his from KC which I would imagine are also good. I think that even though they were debating a little it was good posting, the information came out and anyone researching mats can now see there are two very good options to investigate. The person can decided on their own which is for them.
It just gets a little sour with the wife comment, a lot of guys take that really serious, especially when not coming from one of their old buds. If I joke around with one of my friends about his mom it's funny as hell, if I joke around with some kid I meet in class about his mom he'll probably slug me.
Chris seems to be a decent guy from his other posts here, I'd say give him another chance. I for one can definitely vouch for Magoo being a great guy, it's understandable that he would be more than just a little pissed.
As for anyone leaving, I dont see the sense in that, at least yet. Kathy who are you? When did you become so knowledgeable about the people on FC? I mean not for nothing, but it is your first post. I would imagine you've read a few, but still... If anything you're just throwing wood on the fire here which is a little contradictory to your all knowing standpoint.
In all, I think you guys should cool off a bit and both stick around, give Chris the benefit of the doubt cause he's new here and let Magoo calm down a bit from something that is obviously very important to him.
I don't what kind of mats I have, they were relatively new when I got the car like a year and a half ago, but after like 10K miles a spot has worn into the mat where my right heel sits. It kind of sucks, but at the same time it's kind of good because it holds you foot in place. I for one couldn't care less about mats and would not pay either $100 or $400 for them as of now. Eventually when I do need new mats, I'll probably just get them at the dealership because I really don't care that much about exotic mats (but if you do, good for you, that's what you like, so be it). Although Lung may have a point here... maybe exotic mats wouldn't be so bad...

Ferrarijoe, thanks for the comment, Magoo seems to hate everyone that disagrees with him. I guess he hates me now, (I'll get over it).I did not say I agreed with Chris, his comment was in bad taste, but I don't believe he was trying to be anything other than sarcastic. If he has a bunch of F1 clothing who wouldn't want a picture with cool F1 stuff! I just believe Chris made a mistake, we all agree on that, the fact that Magoo is not able or willing to accept his apology says more about the lack of character Magoo has, than the comments made in jest by Chris. I bet Chris will be more thoughtful in the future! (I don't think Magoo will ever change). Aren't we supposed to be having fun? Hey I love my 360 spider, Fly yellow and black 6 speed!

Hey Magoo: Chill, man. I agree that he shouldn't take cheap shots that involve statements about your wife. But the "warning" you make is totally inappropriate. Nobody should make threats of physical violence on the internet. This forum is for the exchange of ideas and information, and the well-placed zinger is OK, unless it gets too personal and nasty. Then it goes beyond what i find acceptable as a member of this forum. The guy apologized and you've said you don't accept his apology:- that's your right. But you don't have the right to use this forum to make threats.

I, like some of my fellow chatters have the mats from Lloyd's and like them quite a lot. Since I am not the "richest man in the land", what I paid definitely gave the most bangs for the buck. I have had them for 3 1/2 years, after 18,000 miles, the drivers side still looks great, and the passenger side looks brand new.

Regardless of what the opinions were about mats, you do not ever mention another mans wife to win an argument. I am with Magoo in that if he needs a back up, I would be more than glad to make that appointment with Richey Rich.

BTW, Thanks for your output, Kathy!

Kathy, Whoever you are. First of all read my comments about being stupid. I didn't call him stupid I meant it was stupid to spend more for the same thing. But since you brought it up, it probably is true. You are as bad as he is if you think it was ok to make a remark about my wife. You can say what you want about me to my face or on this chat line but don't ever try to make your point by taking a cheap shot at my wife. As far as hiding behind a keyboard don't let that fool you and I will give that warning to Chris as well. And yes the mats he mentioned did look disgusting and cheap on the ad. I am sure they make nice ones also but if you say they are the same mats at F.O.A then why pay $300.00 more for the same thing? Unless of course you have unlimited funds as I am sure Chris does. And yes I only have a GTS as he mentioned as many of the other guys on this Ferrari Chat line have. I am not ashamed of my car and they are not ashamed of theirs and I am sure they are all impressed by his magnificent collection. As I said before if you can defend this guy who takes a cheap shot at another guys wife to make his point then you are as bad as he is.

Based on my 6 months of experience with Ferrari mats, I'd imagine I'm going to buy many sets over the life of the car. The original sets that came with my car were worn out and looked like crap. They bunched up under the gas pedal so badly I thought I had cruise control! I bought a set from Harris in Salt Lake before I left for about $130. I bought black mats to go in my tan interior, with the Ferrari shield embroidered on them. I like them, but have decided I want a tan pair also. I'd like a pair of Keith Collins mats, but quite frankly am not sure how I would explain the expense to my wife! BobD had a good source for Lloyds mats, where are you Bob?

My mats are those rubber ones with the thick grooves so you could jump in out of the mud and it wouldn't get on the carpet. Probably cost $9 at K-Mart. They came with the car! You can see where the previous owner cut them with a razor blade to make them fit. The stock mats are underneath in pretty good condition. These things look hideous but they work and I just can't bring myself to throw them away. I should take a picture, I'm not joking.

Magoo, I am new at this so please try to be understanding. First of all I must confess, I have Keith Collins mats in my Ferrari and I love them, I would agree with most people on this chat that they are the best, but that doesn't make anyone else's bad. I don't want to take sides, but Chris gave his opinion on what he thought were good mats, nothing more, nothing less. Your responce was that they were "disgusting" OK that was your opinion, but you started crossing the line when you said they weren't appropriate for a Ferrari. Chris came back and wanted to make sure you got the correct web site and asked you to take another look, obviousley he respected your comments. After your desciption of your mats, they do sound like copies of Keith's mats, impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery! Magoo, you asked for his argument and he gave a very convincing one, without insults. Magoo when you stated he was stupid for paying $400.00 for a set of mats YOU crossed the line. The fact that you chose to shop at discount stores does not make those of us that might pay retail every once in a while stupid, I am glad your wife buys your clothes and saves money doing it. Chris conceded defeat and was done, but apperantly winning was not good enough, you had to be a smart ass and comment on his F1 apperal. Well, obviously Chris had all of your opinions he wanted, I thought his next comments were funny, they were meant to be sarcastic, and they were, but they were funny! Chris apologized for his comments, but you are not a big enough man to accept it. Magoo, you don't speak for everyone on FC. Even if you were offended by Chris' comments, it was over the minute he apologized. Your comments were not made in an attempt to be funny, your a bully hiding behind a keyboard. I just hope that since I am a woman you won't come after me!, You can talk to my husband about that. Do you threaten everyone that disagrees with you? Are the rest of us stupid if we disagree with you? Magoo, we are all Ferrari lovers, it makes you sound bitter and jealous just because someone might be fortunate to strive to have the best they can. I am sure Chris does not beat up on someone because they have an F50! If anybody needs to leave Ferrari Chat it is you. If you are the example of the "gentleman" on FC, I am not impressed. Disgusted with Magoo in Miami. Kathy

Ok, I'll take the heat, but didn't I give the win to magoo, if this was a competition? (which it wasn't) I guess it was Ok for Magoo to insult me. Sorry If I crossed the line, I was trying to match Magoo's sarcasim, I guess I am not good at it as he is. But do you think Magoo really wanted pictures of me on FC? naw, I don't think so... I tend to treat people the same way I am treated, I guess when I am told I am stupid, I don't feel like I am being treated with respect. You just dont insult people cause they dont have the funds to blow on cars like you, and you really dont insult their wives. Chris, First of all let me say that I am impressed with all of your possesions of automobiles. Second not everyone has the funds to spend on accessories such as yourself. $400.00 for a set of mats is stupid. You are paying for the name. If you like that keep spending. My wife buys me Polo shirts etc. at a good discount. Should I tell her to take them back and buy them from a Polo retailer because she didn't pay enough for them?

Magoo, you are entitled to your opinion. Just because A Ferrari dealer sells them does not make them the best. I once had a carb 308GTB and bought the mats you describe from from Ferrari of Dallas, I suspect it is the same source as Ferrari of Atlanta. When I bought my F355 from Ferrari of Dallas they only offered Keith Collins mats. They start at $400 and go up, so I can understand why not everyone would cough up that kind of money. If a person has a garage queen that is never driven, who cares about mats? If you want a simple mat like I have in my Daytona which is black with a small Ferrari Shield in the corner what is so tacky about that? My F40 mats are black with only the F40 script in red, is that in bad taste? My F355 has two sets of mats one black with a yellow Cavallino, pretty tame to me, my other set is kinda out there black, yellow Cavallino, yellow whipped stitch. If you want beautiful, my Dino has black mats with the yellow and blue Dino script, these are beautiful. I am sure your mats are great, they sound like a bargin at $100.00. But for a quality car like Ferrari, why compromise?

Chris, You can say what you want but the proof is in the puddin'. I own a set and I am very pleased with what I bought from Ferrari Of Atlanta. It seems to me that a Ferrari dealer would want to provide its customers with the best quality products. Why do you say they are copies of his mats when you haven't seen them? And if they are, which I doubt, what is your arguement.

Magoo, I don't know what you looked at, but if you went to the web sight I listed and clicked on floor mats and then clicked on Ferrari you will see the best mats avaialble. If you have ever been to a Ferrari meet, such as Cavallino or Concorso Italiano you would see these mats for sale. Each mat is made to order for each car, you pick color, Cavallino, Shield or model name, Not professionally done, as compared to what? Keith's murals are knida of out there I will agree. I have had Keith's mats in all of my Ferrari's with excellent results. Put your glasses back on Magoo and look again!

I got mine from Ferrari of Atlanta. They have a great supplier. Mine are tan the orig. carpet color with a red Stallion accented in black and Ferrari name in black. They are thick and very plush. They are outstanding. The outside edges are heavily whipped stitched for wear. The name Ferrari and the Stallion stand above the carpet and look great. You can order whatever combination you choose. If I remember correctly, don't hold me to this but they were a little less than $100.00. Ferrari of Atlanta 1-800-522-2345. Ask for Ken or Harold in parts.

Ferrari of Atlanta has a great supplier of mats. They are very plush and are the same color of the carpet.Mine is tan, but you can order what you want. They have Ferrari name in black and the stallion in Ferrari red accented in black. They are sharp! Thick carpet and embroidery that is second to none. The stallion is so thick it stands up over the carpet. If I remember correctly they were a little less than $100.00. Don't hold me to that but I really like them and they were very reasonable. They fit my 308 GTS perfectly.1-800-522-2345 ask for Harlod or Ken in parts.
