Does anyone remember Studebaker as being one of the great luxury automobiles of the 30's?

Sorry Ernie, I was typing my comment as you were posting yours.

Speaking of money, you think this is alot, what do folks think of the prices for vintage Ferraris? There are some that would buy-and-sell this Duesy many times over... Would you still get it?

What's with the Duesenberg bashing?

They were THE luxury car of the world back in the '20's and '30's, outclassed any European make. In fact Ettore Bugatti were so impressed with the Duesy engine he copied it for his twin-cam straight eights. A proud American company with a respected history.

...And they are bloody fast...

That is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a car. But in the defence of Duesenberg, they where the topdog of there time. Better than Rolls Royce, Bentley, Bugatti, Mercedes and Cadillac. Back then the Duesenberg was the choice of movie star and weathly aristocratic types. They where very well built, as a matter of fact when Rolls Royce had to have outside help they would call on Duesenberg. A great car of it's time too bad they still aren't around. But I still wouldn't spend that kinda money for one.

Its still a slow old car, just probably a rare one. It isnt even good looking either. I would rather blow one and a quarter on a Mclaren F1!

For that price you could buy a decent size island (caribbean, off the east of west coast of the US) and build your own race track on it. I don't know why, but I was looking up prices of islands the other day. Let's see caribbean island paradise or slow old car... alright it might be a little more than a slow old car.

Buy a nice turboprop airplane instead and have real transportation.
