Solly, can you pls keep this Dino thing (fakeys) quiet? If word gets out we're all driving Dino's, our values could drop like the NYSE. |

Oh would you all stop it already!! My Dino is as much a Ferrari as my 360, in fact, in historical importance, sound, ride and all other intangible factors, it is more of a Ferrari than many "Ferraris". Styling by Pinninfarina (who admitted that this was his favorite design for Ferrari), body by Bertone, Engine design by Vittorio Jano, probably the greatest Ferrari engine designer ever, and a long history of engine service in "real" Ferrari race cars (it was homologated for F-2). Who cares that that part of the engine was actually built by Fiat? The drivetrain is Ferrari, the lower unit is Ferrari (as opposed to the Fiat Dino which had the entire engine built by Fiat) , what's the problem here? If you want to be a real purist, then only front-engined 12 cylinder cars are "real" Ferraris. Sorry all you 308/328/348/355/Testarossa owners. You are driving fakeys. |

I always loved Dino. It was great how he always came home & pounced on Fred. Pebbles was always being looked after by Dino too. What a fine pet he was. Seriously, I think of Dino's as a separate company from Ferrari (Enzo did too). The V6 Dinos (246) were made to honor his dead son and to support the 4-banger race cars he no longer wanted to name after himself. As for the GT4...in retrospect, Ferrari wished they had not labeled it a Dino. They had to re-label in order to sell most of them. They were afraid the Bertone 4 seater would confuse the new image of 12cyl Ferraris. What intrests me the most about them is this - how is it that they made the 308GTB more uncomfortable and handle worse than the GT4? These Dinos may be under valued only because Magnum drove a GTS. You're right. I have no point. I'm just rambling. |

Ernesto, There is no value in arguing (or even discussing) with someone who has fallen in love with his own theory,no matter how silly that theory is ! |

GM makes the Corvette, Dino does not make the Ferrari. Where is the logic in that? |

Ernesto, then do you consider it silly to call a Corvette a GM car ? If not, then it is not silly to call a Ferrari or a Dino a Fiat . |

An auto manufacturer does not have to make every single component of the cars it manufactures. If you logic were so, no single car on this planet could be called anything because almost everything is outsourced. The bottom line is that we call cars by what the manufacturer calls them. If Ferrari calls it a Ferrari, its a Ferrari. Its that simple. The logic of calling a Ferrari a Dino, when it fact it is a Ferrari is pretty silly. Funny how lawyers always complicate everything. Ernesto,Maserati is owned by Ferrari Spa and so was Dino back when the 206, 246 and 308 GT4 were being produced. And if you are going by where the car was made, then most all modern Ferraris should be called Pininfarinas with most of the older ones being called Pinin Farinas. Most all of the body and chassis are produced at the Pininfarina plant and then shipped to Ferrari Spa for assembley. For the most past Ferrari Spa only produces the engine and drivetrain with every thing else being outsourced from various venders. And, what should you call the Lancia Thelma which had an optional Ferrari engine. Or how about the Fiat Dino which also had a Ferrari engine. A car is not necessarily named after the company that makes the engine. If so, a Shelby Cobra would just be called a Ford as that is who made the engine. |

Tom, when you advertise you have to appeal to the unwashed who think of all cars made by Ferrari Spa as a Ferrari. |

While bored to death pulling my kids on a tube behind the boat today, I happened to look at the steering wheel and noticed that it was a DINO! I must be warped, I thought of Frank and remembered my boat has a V8. Maybe he IS one to something. |
