One of my favorite Ferrari stories is by Merritt and taking the Count Volpi Bread Van and another Fcar through a NY blizzard from their delivery in Chinetti Motors. It's in Forza from like a year ago.

It was one of the most beautiful days last summer, when I came home and some people were there so I left the 308 at the end of the driveway. They left and my mom saw them out and promptly came running back in to tell me that it just started raining. So, I bolted out the door to the end of the driveway, hopped in, peeled out on the wet driveway and into the open garage. Of course as soon as I got in the garage it stopped raining, it poured for like a minute and then nothing. Weird. The interior was a bit dusty from having the top off the last couple of days, so the rain water made a dirty mess. No damage done though, dried it right away. That's my only interesting convertible story.

I play a lot of competitive amateur golf; Local/regional stuff, Sate Am's, State open's, anyway most of the time I don't put the tops up on my cars while I'm out on the course. Which really isn't the best idea when you're away from your car for like 5-6 hours with no real way of leaving to run back and put the top up if it starts to rain. A couple of summers ago I was playing in the big invitational tournament at my country club and I left the top down on my 66 corvette as usual. Well you guessed it, out of nowhere this rain strom rolls in. Now when I park at the club I have this habit of leaving the keys in the ignition, ( I know!) well in this case it was a good thing; evidentally no one seemed to be able to figure out how to put the top up (which I found funny, cause its not that hard) anyway since no one could put the top up and the keys were in it the club manager simply started it and drove it up into one of the golf cart barns. The rain caused a delay so when we were called off the course I was a little surprised to see the car gone but it wasn't long before someone told me where it was (which I kinda figured anyway), so I go up to the cart barn and its in there surrounded by 40 or 50, 10-14 year old caddies (recruited for the big tourney) I force my way through the sea of drooling kids, put the top up, fired it up, the off road exhuast scared the crap out of them and drove back down to the parking lot... I dont really remember much about what happened on the golf course that day but its a good car story.

I don't know if you read the article about Col. Kurt Carlson a couple of years ago in Cavallino. Kurt was driving his full race 348Challenge car from the north east down to Cavallino at West Palm Beach. About half way there an unexpected snow storm started. He was OK for a while as the front bumber acted as a plow, but eventually it got so bad they closed the interstate and he litteraly was stuck on the hiway for 24 HOURS, sitting in his race seat! Now this was not a case of being irresponceable, but it's about the worst weather related Ferrari story I have heard, (yes this is the same Kurt who races Porsches and in the Ferrari Challenge, a really nice guy.

I don't know about the weather in L.A. But here in Indiana it cat literally be sunny and clear one minute and before you know it the rain is coming down. One time I had my 308 out and went in to check on some things in a building that I could not see outside. I parked the car under a tree to keep my black interior from getting hot as a grill. Anyway I get a call a bit later and it is my mother "Fred it's raining out" good ole mom knew I had the top out. I go running out side and it had passed already. Just a summer shower. I was sick as I walked to my car. I get to the car expecting a flood but thank the lord because it was parked under the tree I only had a few drops inside. It was unbelievable that the car was not soaked. I consider it my top out "mulligan"

I am very surprised by this. I get worried about my 308 and this is an F50. I can't believe it.

Hey Rob, Ferrari Protective Services? I like it. Put it on a T shirt. For those uncaring, dead beat Ferrari owners that will have car taken away to live with a happy foster owner until the adoption can be finalized. It works for me.

I got this from another Ferrari website. Its written by a 550 owner under the handle darth550. Keep a bowl nearby you so that you can puke into something having read it.....

"Last night I was witness to a very disturbing occurance. We received 1 inch of rain in a two hour period here in L.A. during which time a yellow F50 sat outside uncovered with no top. Keep in mind this was inside the parking lot of a luxury highrise within eyesight of 5 valets! I was going over there with MY Maranello car cover when someone, who looked alot like Spike Lee, came out and put the car away. I told him that Enzo was probably rolling over in his grave and he should be ashamed of himself that his neighbor had more respect for his car than he did!"
