Thanks all for your input. I have started my subscription to Forza magazine - good phone # - and have contacted both Milano Imports and Skelton Ferrari, and both have responded with estimates. Haven't got to talk with Mark at Veloce Speed Design yet, but am waiting. Thank-you all! |

Allen, Check with Veloce Speed Design in Campbell. Very Knowledgeable. Only works on Ferraris. He may not be able to work on the car for a few weeks though. Tell them Henry sent you. Let me know if you can't find their number and I'll find it here. |

I wouldn't worry Rob, like many other times before, things like this always seem to re-list on Ebay. Good things come to those that wait. |

The car only got a top bid of $24k. I offered them a package of sponsorship, web hosting, web design, and cash worth $28k and they responded back the price was $89k. I know for a fact they put over $130k in that car, but I don't think they'll ever get $40k for it. Not too many people interested in a mid pack club racing GT-2 Ferrari that will cost more to maintain and the local FCA will snub you because it's a repro GTO body. Although everything else on the car is 308 GTB real. Heck, for that amount of money you can get a 355 Challenge and race T-1 and that will cost less to maintain. You can tell I'm upset they didn't take my offer. I really love that car. #1 It looks awesome. #2 I would race the heck out of it. #3 I don't care about the FCA snobs. #4 It would be fun and easier to work on than a 355. *sob sob* |

If you go to a Barns & Noble, Books-A-Million, or any of the large book & magazine stores, you should be able to find Forza. It's a great magazine. |

Forza is in the first stages of a Web sight design. The company that has done work for Autosport Gallery and has designed the Ferrari Club of America / Kansas City Chapter web page is doing the preliminary design work. Forza should have a web page by the end of summer. |

Al, Forza has no web site.... beats me???? As of the April issue, they're still in biz... you can reach them at 415.382.0580. No web site, no 800 number??? But it's a great F rag. |

I will give Al Burtoni a call and see what he can do for me. Thanks Wm. Greg, I have searched the internet for subscription info on Forza magazine, but cannot seem to locate anything. I have found numerous dated information pertaining to the magazine. Is it still publishing? |

Go independent, this is the first rebuild I'm doing on a car and it's not that bad. Granted I've always worked on my motorcycles with my uncle and bikes and stuff, but still. Just get someone that cares about cars and they'll do it right. |

Allen, what I would do is purchase or find the latest edition of Forza. In the back of the magazine is an extensive listing of Ferrari service businesses. You may also want to check the FCA-Northwest website. They had been keeping a "rolodex" of Ferrari service businesses also. |

Yep, that's it. Anyone want to go partners on the FerrariChat.com race team? It would compete in local and national SCCA and NASA events, but give sponsor exposure too at Ferrari track events. |

What does Mohr want to charge? Do they do service, I thought they just sold cars or do they just ship it to a local mech? Hey, do they still have that 288 GTO race car built on a 308? I really want that car, it qualifies for the SCCA GT-2 class, but they haven't been able to sell it the past 3 years. They put over $120k into it. |

You might want to try Patrick Otis in Berkeley. He has an excellent reputation. I don't live in the bay area, but I used him for an inspection once and was very pleased. There is nothing complicated about a GT4, but experience with them is still a big help. I would use an independent. 4500. sounds really high unless there are repairs and/or a clutch included. Dave

I am leaning towards the independent shop definitely. Looking at the owners manual, and what is reccomended at 30K, most of the bill is labor. Given that I own a twenty-four year old car, the technology involved is not exactly "cutting edge". I believe that the gentlemen at the dealership where I purchased the car are well schooled in Ferraris and their eccentricities. Mr. Mohr is very knowledgeable himself having owned and sold Ferraris for years. |

I am with you too....4500.00 I think is very high.............but again you are talking a dealership...service and parts are their bread and butter....go to an independent shop.. |

I think that $4500 is a little high. The main things are the Timing belts. They are very important. I think and independent would be the way to go. They will be much more reasonable. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. |

Hello all. I recently purchased my first Ferrari about one month ago (1978 308 GT4). Not knowing too much about the prior service history I want to do the right thing and have a major service done. It currently has 40K miles and I want to have a factory recommended 30K service performed. Ferrari of Los Gatos wants $4500-$4600 to do this. I live in Monterey County (CA). Does anyone out there know of an independent shop they would reccomend? The dealer I purchased it from, Mohr Imports Inc., is prepared to perform the service. I am more than ready to have them do it, as I feel very confident in Mr. Mohrs ability to have the work done right, but I would like to hear from the posters on this board. Thanks - Allen |
