Michael: I have an EFIS in the plane, so that a 530 really would be redundant, given the SANDEL EFIS, I have some time in my friends Cherokee, which does have a 430, and it does blow away the King 90. The Garmin does it all, and is built so that if anything breaks, they send you an exchange board, and you are fixed. The only gripe that I have if that there are too many buttons to push when flying an approach, you almost have to have the autopilot coupled in order to follow the Garmin and get the right buttons pushed. The alternative is to load the approach, and just use the map to fly the approach. I'm picking up the plane tomorrow, I'll post again after I've flown it. Art |

There is really no comparision between the Garmin and the KLN90. I have flown both the 430 and 530 and the difference is, well, night and day. The garmin just blows the King away. Much better operating logic also. The only drawback I find with the Garmin is that with everything packed into the same box, all you need is the failure of the enter button and the whole thing is useless. If you have the room, get the 530, much bigger screen and has better "upgradability". |

Art, I would be interested to hear what you think of the Garmin 430 when installed. I've been thinking of upgrading my KLN90B setup in the A36. Steve |

Having a plane has to be one of the coolest things in the world. It's gotta be so cool to be able to fly places if you want. |

I like it. I have always been interested in flying. I have looked at Pipers and Cesnas. I think they are great. I haven't looked into lessons yet though. |

This morning received email photos of my new 5-place Maule airplane. Brent Maule said that the plane looks nice in the photos, but far better in person. The exterior is a little bare at the moment since it would disrupt the factory schedule to put the matching blue pinstripes and blue identification numbers on. This will be done aftermarket. After the engine is broken in, will have the prop repainted blue to match the piping and the prop tips painted a matching yellow. Then balanced. The interior is a special grade of gray Italian leather that not only is soft, but is resistant to mud, sand, tears, etc. My order was one of the driving reasons that Maule Aircraft started offering this. The blue piping on the seats is also the first time Maule has done this. I wanted to break up the expansive gray and to tie the interior to the exterior. It turned out so well that Maule is now offering it. The center of the instrument panel is now a little bare. A state of the art high tech avionics system will be installed there. The earliest they can start is the end of April. It will take about a month to do the installation. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time these avionics have been installed in a Maule.
