Don't forget to check things like wear on the seats, floor and console. It's unlikely that someone who would fudge the odometer would bother with restoring the interior.

Good call on the pedal, Frank. Unless it's been replaced (rare), it's a pretty good indicator. Mine had 23K when I got it, and the pedal was worn around the upper right third.

Dave, how long have you had yours? 9K? Must be like new!

First off, run a carfax. Mileage goes in every time a title change, lien, or emissions test is done. This might give a clue. Service and ownership records are a must and should have mileage. There are a lot of low mileage 328's so could be just fine. However, if it doesn't look like a low mileage car, you don't want it, even if the mileage is right. A place I always look is the brake rotors for wear. This can vary a lot of course. My 89 328 with 9K shows very minimal wear. A low mileage car could have a lot of wear, but I wouldn't want it if it did because they would be hard miles. Hope this helps.

Check the wear on the gas pedal. When I bought my 328 it had 11,000 miles and the paint had just started to wear off a little.

John assume it has been disconnected - that said evaluate the condition of the car - you can tell if the milage is really 10k or 30k by wear and tear. also get the service records. always have the car inspected by an mechanic and he can tell you his view on milage also

I am a new member to the list and am in pursuit of a 328 purchase. I have found one that I'm very interested in, but the mileage seems low. I would like to examine the linkage/cable where the owner might have tampered with odometer. Can someone please give me the details of how the odometer on a 328 might have been disconnected so that I can check.
Thanks,
John
