If you have the slightest question then definitely use it. A Ferrari is a very capable and dangerous vehicle and if you aren't completely confident that you can control the car better than the traction control then don't turn it off. |

ACW: There is a light in the middle of the dash that comes on and says "ASR Active". Then it disapears. I don't agree with the theme of some of the posts that real men don't need traction control. I have PSM in my Porsche 911 and in hard driving (even in rain) I have yet to see it come on. Yet, in the 550, ASR comes on quite easily if I accelerate in a corner. I haven't driven with it off so I don't know if it's just a minor correction or if I would have totally lost it. |

How do you know the traction control system is helping? Is there some light or something? I always keep it on but I don't think I have ever felt its effect. Or maybe it is helping all the time and that's in fact why I think the 360 is so well balanced?... AW |

I meant a horrible storm and traffic at the same time. |

Traction control is a waste of time IMO. I would leave it off all the time, with the exception of a horrible storm and traffic. I used to drive the 308 in the rain all the time and never once had a problem with not having ABS or traction control. It's pretty simple, when it's wet you go around corners slower, don't push the right foot down as fast. It really doesn't seem like a hard concept to me. The 308 is the first sports car I have owned (obviously not driven) and I was able to pick it up. I will admit though that without it you can pretty easily pull a 180' in the rain if you want to. I've horsed around a couple times in the rain on open streets and it still surprises me how hard it is to get back going straight compared to a FR. |

I was told that during the first week after delivery of the F40 2 or 3 drivers died in accidents. True or false? Ciao Peter |

I wouldn't go so far as "Anyone who gets into trouble with a 360 or 355 is just doing stupid things..." For the inexperienced, a mid-engined car will require a bit of re-learning how to drive. ASR gives an inexperienced driver the opportunity to realize, without damage to self or car, that it isn't a good idea to brake hard halfway through a fast turn. I'm not saying it's a necessary feature, but I'm sure there are a number of people out there that have benefited from it. |

Yeah, I have traction control on my Challenge car, my right foot! Luca D. is right the only reason traction control and all the other electronic aids are on cars is to please the liability lawyers at Ferrari SPA. Today's modern exotics may have incredible horsepower but they also have incredible handling to go with it. I can't think of any modern day cars built in the last 15 years that really needed all these electronic driver control aids (except in bad weather). A 1970's 911 Turbo!! Now there was a car that needed traction control. Anyone who gets into trouble with a 360 or 355 is just doing stupid things and shouldn't be driving a high performance car anyway. Just my 2 cents worth! Jon |

Mine has Sport Mode and ASR. I usually keep ASR on all the time. It engages quite often and a bit too easily. But it saves me from spinning out. Also, I usually keep it in sport mode so I can spin the rear wheels if I want to. |

Guys, Luca di Montezemolo once admitted that Traction Control devices on Ferraris exist to make sure that the 'market segment' (as opposed to the 'enthusiast segment') would not end up killing themselves....... I was wandering if any of you switch out your Traction controls when on the road, for a little fun. Under what circumstances do you do it and have you ever regretted it... To the guys who don't have TC.... do you ever wish you did or do you think its a load of BULL.... |
