Neil the guy who painted my 77 308B was Joe Coyle in Ferrisburgh VT. His # is 802 877-3669 and he used a Urathane enamal on an epoxy base. Super job , Bright Ferrari red. Also a guy who did some restoration work on my car and does Ferraris in Vt. is Peter Markowski in Vergennes vt. , # 802 877-2645. Both guys are easy to talk to and know their stuff. They are located about 1 1/2 hrs from Albany. Good luck Steve

Steve, thanks for checking on this for me. This individual sounds like a good possibility, especially with Vt. not being too far away.

Neil I live 60 miles south of Albany and I've got a 77 308GTB that I picked up in Vermont a year ago. The car was repainted (Red) by a guy in VT. who I think did a super job. I'll get you the name of the painter , I know he is still in business and maybe he'd be interested in doing the job. Steve

Paint Code Database!
I figured we all could use this at some point.
Could everyone list their paint code for their car here for future reference? State car year, color, model.
Thanks everyone!

There was an article early last year in Sports Car Market I read today...the 8000$ Ferrari paintjob VS. the 3500$ Mercedes paintjob. Boiled down to: It is not easy to disassemble and reassemble, hand sand entirely, mask, do the trim and headlight bucket r&r and shoot the side intakes. Lots of PROFESSIONAL non PeeOn type labor.

You may want to read Michael Sheehan's commentary on why Ferraris are so expensive to repair. His website is http://www.ferraris-online.com. Look under "articles" and I think the title is something like "the $11,000 fender bender." While not specifically focused on a total repainting job, he does talk about the complexities of repainting a Ferrari.

To take it down to the metal and sand all the rust that had built up over 20 years. It cost me $5,000.00 The guy who did it only does show cars and has a good reputaion. But he's in Mandeville, LA. Check out the show room under my 308. It dark becasue it was scanned in to dark , but it is pure Rosso Corsa.
Good luck

You may have to consider stripping those panels where the old lacquer is crazing. I'm sure you want the car done right so removing the bonnet, hood, bumpers, sealing the car and block sanding it prior to painting it etc. are things that will be considered. Then there is the fact it has the name FERRARI on it. There are guys who are good and realistic, then you will find the Pre-Madonna who plays you bigtime and hits you high. Bottom line, I know I have not completely answered your question, but shop around and take your time. The prices can vary greatly. magoo

I am considering a total repaint of my 1977 308GTB. It has the original red paint, but is crazed badly. I understand they had problems with the late 70's 308's, and many owners at the time had their cars repainted. Does anyone know a good paint shop in New York State (I live upstate, 80 miles south of Syracuse)? Also, any idea as to what this would cost if properly performed? Any comments would be appreciated.
