here's the pic of the aforementioned 360 spider with a painted challenge grill. my new 355 spider has a challenge grill and i much prefer the solid panel. but the engine temperature issue is a real potential benefit. so i'm on the fence still. i had never seen a picture of a painted challenge grill, so this is interesting. doody. Tino, thanks for the pic... its nice to see what my car's going to look like. I definitely prefer the look of the standard panel (posted here for side-by-side comparison), but since I track it regularly in the heat of Texas, I need the added cooling.  | ||

IMO, the ch grill does cool things quite a bit. It also blends well with the two panels on either side of the rear glass and the grills around the exhaust pipes. Here's my first attempt at attaching an image. {  | ||

Hi Rick, No, I haven't yet sold/traded my 360 rear panel. So, you have a Challenge Grill and you'd be interested in trading for a standard Titanium panel? If so, where are you located? I am in the Dallas area. BTW, your email address doesn't seem to work. Brian | ||

Believe it or not, the challenge grill makes a BIG difference in street driving -- at least in hot climates like mine. You can FEEL the heat decrease on the body panels after a drive, and you can SEE the temp. gauge is quite a bit lower. The heat buildup is just too much back there. I think they should all come from the factory with the grill. The cooler the engine, the longer life it will have. | ||

Rick, It could be zero... or the cost of painting it. I'd trade. I actually prefer the look of the standard panel, and on the street (no matter how aggressively) the heat is no issue... but on the track, I need some additional cooling. Let me know if you (or anyone else) is interested in trading a Challenge Grill for a standard rear panel (Titanium). Brian | ||

Rick: Many dealers will keep the original solid metal body piece--they may cut you a deal or trade you straight out on the challenge grill. The other option is to have the grill painted body color (I am having that done with my 360)--there is a 360 spider on the FNA website that has a rear painted challenge grill--you can view it there. I agree with Willis--I would try to keep it because of cooling issues. | ||

Why would you want to remove the challenge grill? It allows excess heat to escape the engine compartment. And depending on the color of the car, it looks better with the challenge grill. IMHO | ||

I am looking to purcahse a 360 which comes with the challenge grill. can anyone let me know what the cost of changing the challenge grill to the regular body panel will cost me. |
