Brett: I guess I do not count speed as a redeeming quality -- just as you pointed out there are a lot of fast cars so to me speed is no longer a qualifying term by which to judge a car. |

I said I'm not a fan of the Z8. It is a good car (performance, reliability, etc), but so is Mustang, good, but I'd never buy it. You need something with more flare for that kind of money. If you want that look I like Cobra replicas and they are devastatingly quick. |

Sorry, Brett -- I disagree. I was at the BMW dealership the other day buying a car for my brother and saw a Z8. Ugly in my book. Now my TR, I get that. I feel like I was at the drawing board watching Enzo create the car. I am not that creative to think of the TR but I am damn sure "feeling it". The Z8 looks like a group project with too many cooks in the pot. But if you like the Z8 I respect your position -- after all you have a Ferrari in your driveway not a Z8 or Z3 -- your heart knew what to buy -- that says it all. |

That's a very good point actually. I just saw a new titanium 360 being delivered, probably to someone in your category that you described. Germany, I saw a Z8 today, I'm not a fan (get a Shelby Cobra), but it does have some redeeming qualities I guess. All in all, it's a good car. |

I own a 308 GTB and I love Ferrari and I love Porsche. And @ BretM. concerning your posting from April 21: I know so many guys who own a new Ferrari because it's SOOO cool to own a Ferrari. And all the others think: Ferrari-Owner ? Must be a rich guy. Today I saw a 959 ( yes really ) on the public roads. Incredible ugly for my taste but a stunning piece of machinery. Noone who isn't familiar with cars is aware of the prize Porsche asked for this car in 1987. It's just an upgraded 911. But Ferrari ? They all think you're rich. Even when you own an 'old' 308. A little kidding, but also much truth. Best Regards from Germany |

No really .... I meant 'boxer' They're all riding little dogs. I should call p.e.t.a. on them. It's horrible. ( just kidding, and thanks for the correction ) |

Out here all the yuppies drive boxers or z3's. My 348 Spider may be slow , but it sure moves past Buffy in her boxer, and Bartholomew in his BMW. " Well, how pretentious " they say while almost spilling their Frapaccino. |

That's one thing that perplexes me, why would they want their cars to sound like that? They all have that annoying, overly loud(my ferrari's louder, but it's like music), disgusting exhaust note. It's like a raspy note, but it just makes me think of a dog with a bigger bark than bite. |

Bret over here these ghettofied Hondas are nothing but a bunch of jerks. They want to race at every stop light, pull up behind me and put the brights on. These cars have the most annoying sound coming out of their exhaust I just want to stick a potoato in their mufflers. I do notpay any attention but let me tell you the Ferrari sounds fast. I come down wailing at 68oo rpm in my TR and these guys clear the way for me, it's only when I stop do they get annoying. |

Yeah Jim, there just missing that edge that Ferrari has, they're still great cars though, just lacking that fiestyness of the Fcar. Billy, my goodness, everytime I go out on the road down a little south of me, I see nothing but those ghetto cruisers racing around (I'm like 35 minutes northeast of NYC). Everyone of them comes racing out of entrance ramps and cuts people off right and left. I only met one kid that was pretty cool in a Honda Civic, it was slighty ghettofied and he pulled up next to me (I have a 85 308GTSqv) and he motioned to race, needless to say I pulled away but kept it close so that he would keep going, he kept accelerating with me all the way to 100 with that little Honda screaming, then I pinned it to the floor and took off, he caught up when I slowed down again and then he was cool about it and gave me the thumbs up. |

Here in New York, Porsche owners are cool. They have respect for Ferrari owners. The people I cannot stand are the guys in rice burners who think that they own the streets and want to race at every traffic light. Once in a while I give in and destroy them, but its always funny to see them get pulled over. They always ask if this is a Fiero and I tell them yes it s a four cylinder. Always get a crack at that. |

I have a 993 and my personal observation is that a high percentage of Boxster(986)owners are likely to behave like Bret is saying and somehow less the 996 ones. Of course this is on the street roads in a track event it's all different since most of the poseurs(is this a word?) don't go there. Cheers |

Ive had good dealings with most Porsche owners. Actually I rarely meet the Gold Chain wienners 1 of my best friends , who originally got me into cars when I was like 6, was a big Porsche collector he had a 356 spyder, 356 coupe, 911 Carrera, 914 & more. I think there is a big difference between us car guys who have a passion for great sports cars & dweebs who just buy sportscars for posing value. If we r lucky they'd all buy SUVs since thats the "IN" thing to be seen in these days. Yeuch!!!! |

Yeah, it's becoming a pretty accepted feeling that porsche is now the rival with Ferrari which does stem mostly from their common market and scenes. Go to any of the FCA websites for different regions and you'll get this feeling. Late model Porsche owners that I've met have been really cool guys, everyone of them. I'm not trying to imply that anyone on this site is(I mean you guys are Ferrari owners too), but I have yet to meet someone that owned a new Porsche that wasn't a prick. There have to be some cool new Porsche owners out there, but I honestly have not met one and this just supports my case that they are the "enemy". You guys have probably had good experiences with them, unfortunately I haven't. Like stupid things, I'll be going up the highway in the middle lane and a guy will pull up with a new 911 and give me a dirty look or gesture something obscene, I'm like what the hell. |

Oh Dear Bret, I've got 2 of them porch's (heh heh)911 turbos both, one cabriolet and the other a targa, so I'll have to agree with William here. |

Bret I'll have to disagree with u on this 1. I love the 993 Turbo & the 917, 911 GT1 & the new 911GT2 all give me a woodie The 512TR is still an awesome beautiful car, even better looking than the 993 turbo or GT2 but if some1 offered to trade me even for a GT1 or 917 I'd jump on it |

Hmmm... can anyone else stir-up another one of Bret's rants with this one J? Ex/current Porch owners out there? Technically speaking, Ford was the major enemy when they upset Ferrari at LeMans. In recent times, Mclaren was the other one. But I guess you base this on the street-racing scene, eh Bret? |

I would definitely want them in the back, oh man, I hate really hate Porsche. The enemy boys, the enemy, always remember that. The only ones that are acceptable are the older ones, because those owners are car guys, not just own-a-porsche-cause-it's-cool. |

I guess it's all in the way you look at it.... I'd rather have the marks on the rear bumper, showing the Ferrari in front and the Porsche behind (and can't get by) for whatever reason... (But I can understand your wanting to punt the backmarkers off into the weeds with your front bumper) |

Top ten signs that let you know the previous owner may have tracked your Ferrari: 10. Challenge sticker on the car 9. Old trophies in the trunk 8. Harness hookups 7. Roll bar plates 6. Claim of "weekend only" mileage 5. Helmet scuffs on the inside of the roof 4. Water type stains on the seat (Thanks Rob!...) 3. Old Holiday Inn receipts in the glovebox 2. Quick disconnects on everything for easy engine removal And the number one sign..... 1. Porsche marks on the REAR bumper.... |
