Losing its looks? I had an officer from my company out with me the other day at lunch... he's a big early Corvette fan (owns VIN 00002 or something from 1959). He knows I have a Ferrari. We walked out of the restaurant and there sat a 360 Modena.... he said, "What's this"... we went over to take a look. He looked at it from the side shaking his head and said, "$200K and it looks like a Ford Probe". I quickly replied that it didn't run like one! I had him look in the back window and I must admit a smile came across his face. |

Almost any of the Cruise controls that JC Whitney sells will adapt to a Ferrari. |

Buy the car that you love/want the most. Forget the crowds. Given 100 people, 50 will act one way toward the car and 50 the other way. Its a Ferrari no matter the model number. If you want to blend in buy a lexus. |

I am the rare Ferrari fan who actually likes the GT/4 and Mondial body styles. Signed contract on my house last week (sold) and if all goes well I will be in the market for a Ferrari soon! I know the GT/4 outperforms the Mondial QV that I am looking at here in Colorado (1982 w/QV motor); I have concerns about receiving unwanted attention, so my question is: does the Mondial draw the same crowds/attention as the more exotic Ferraris, or does it just blend in...? Thanks! |

I was thinking about takeing a long trip in the 308 this summer. I have done this in my 62 XKE and the one thing I remember about it was the pain in haveing to keep my foot on the gas peddel. Does anyone have any info on a aftermarket cruise control that would work well on the 308. thanks. I think I just posted this in the wrong place. Sorry |

The Lotus twin turbo V8 is pretty cool, It would attract attention with that big rainbow wing & the OZ wheels. How do u like it ? As for the TR, since I have a 512TR, I'm more partial to the Ferraris looks. Maybe in July I'll grab a friend & we can have a little convoy with the Countach & 512TR |

I would love to tell you about the difference between single-point and XR700... but I'm still waiting for mine to arrive at the store... and I'm still working on the car! You can tell a difference going reverse? Just how fast have you been going in reverse? I've noticed that #1 plug would be sootier than others, but then other times not. Is yours really sooty? The mixture screw could've been nudged a bit when you were working around that area. |

Peter, well I guess it is working as good as it ever will. I still have some power loss in reverse. It did however do very well at a Ferrari event we had in Chattanooga about 3 weeks ago. I drove the car about 250 miles and the accelerator response was better and I had pretty good fuel burn. Oh yeah, Good start up too. I pulled a fewe plugs and I did notice that my #1 plug did have quite a bit of carbon on it but the others were toasty brown. Let me know if you have any ideas. I am still baffled by the loss of power in reverse. Did you have that problem with a sinlge point setup? I am on a fairly steep grade too.(steep driveway) Talk to you soon. How is the engine coming? Hopefully well, as summer is approaching. |

Greg, this is off the subject, but did you work out your XR700 bugs? I noticed with my GT4, a black Esprit lives nearby me and parked side-by-side, there's not much difference between the two (low, flat, wedgey). But the majority of people don't mistake it for anything else. They're more surprised that a young guy owns it J! |

I have a Lotus Esprit as well and I do get quite alot of attention in it but I am not sure if I get more than in my Ferrari. I will add that it is funny attention. For example, many ask "What is it?" or "Nice Lamborghini!". It is black and many think it is a Lamborghini. Most don't know what the Lotus is. My usual explanation is to ask if they have seen the movie Pretty Woman. Then they know exactly what the car is. So, in conclusion I feel many are drawn to the car due to not knowing what it is an expressing an interest in it; while many know what a Ferrari is and looks like. I don't think it is because of lack of interest in the Ferrari but most have never seen a Lotus and the first time they see one they want to get a closer look. |

Although the body style was originallly Italian, it was restyled in the late 80's(and looks all the better for it), by Peter Stevens who is English. Hes the one responsible for the "rounded" look & "up to date" features. Anyway do you just buy a Ferrari to draw the maximum number of looks from other people? I think theres alot more to it? Who cares about the amount of attention it draws, if you like it, & like driving it that is what matters, if its 1 day or 30 years old so what? |

There was a 1994 348 spyder there also and no one even bothered looking at that. You got to understand something, the Esprit shape has been around since 1974, maybe the rarity factor. The other thing is that the Lotus, with all its wings and ducts, looks like an F1 cars next to the more gentile and agile Ferrari. To me the TR has always been the most outrageous looking Ferrari. Most people think that they still make them, given the shape was way ahead of its time. I have not driven a 360 Modena, so I can't rate the Lotus against it, but the Lotus outhandles and outperforms all the other 3 series Ferraris. Remember the Lotus was designed by an italian. Only the motor is English. Anyway, I still prefer the Ferrari, but do not knock a lotus until you've driven one. You'd be surprised how far they've come since the four banger engine. |

Yeah, if you swapped the TR with a 360 Modena or a 355 I think the people would look at it more than the lotus. Even though older Ferraris are amazing and I am a really big fan of them (I own one), even the average person can tell that they are not new just by the lines that no longer follow current car trends. They may not know what year they are, but they know they aren't the newest around. Anyway, I think we all know that the TR is the better car (no offense to the Lotus). |

The Lotus is 9 years younger. It has smoother lines and probably still has the new car luster and cleanliness. The TR will catch anyone's attention, but in comparison people usually flock to the best of the best. I'm not saying the Lotus is the best of the best to us, but maybe to the average onlooker. |

Hmmm, could it be a rarity factor? 'Hey, Testarossa was on tv (Miami Vice), but what is that odd and mysterious winged creature?' Most people have seen a Ferrari somehow, but a '98 Lotus? |

Is Ferrari getting jaded? I have a major problem. My brother was visiting me the other night and wanted to go to the hot spots. Told me to take out both of my cars. I nave an 89tr and a 98 lotus twin turbo. Let me tell you, more people were interested in the lotus and could care less about the Ferrari. What gives? Me personally, even though it is slower, I love the Ferrari. I've got to tell you though we owned the streets. Everyone was running out of stores tosee what the rumbling was. We ended up having a chain of cars following us, Porshes, bimmers, even a diablo. Everything was cool and all but everyone especially the girls flocked to the lotus. |
