Pascal, you may enquire with Mike Elliot of Superformance in England (www.superformance.co.uk) or drop by the new forum there (not much action yet). He sells some performance parts such as high comp pistons (they are forged by JE in California actually), bigger valves, quality valve springs and chains, "performance" cams, new DCNF carbs at an amazingly low price, etc. I have the pistons, valves, springs, chains in my engine and hope to get the cams soon as well. Mike is a specialist in all the dino cars and his prices can't be beat. And it appears you are in London and can actually visit his business!

Only the engines are the "same" on our cars so I can't be much help with any other areas. For what it's worth, I am running an MSD electronic ignition (capacitive discharge just like dinoplex) and MSD coil now and have run the dinoplex in the past and even ran for a while with no electronic ignition (just running off the coil). I noticed no difference between any of these: be it around town driving or fast driving on california two lanes. I do have less plug fouling problems with the MSD but I also changed to a hotter plug at the same time so can't say if it is the plugs or the msd that is keeping them clean now. Superformance does sell a system that they will place into the dinoplex box for you to preserve the original look.

Definitely get rid of the Dinoplex ignition. If you want to retain original look, a new ignition can be built right into the Dinoplex box. Otherwise you could upgrade all the way to an optical/magnetic induction breakerless system.

Fans have not been a problem for me. Still have the originals and car runs cool.

I'd recommend the 16" QV wheels if you will drive it a lot. Almost impossible to get 14" performance tires any more. But hang on to the Campagnolos for shows.

I have seen a low-restriction air box on some Euros-free standing, no hook up to the air intake hose. Supposed to help engine breathe better, but I don't know where to get them.

I am currently restoring a 1969 Dino 246GT (Chassis # 00512). I am interested in learning which, if any, changes other owners have made when restoring their Dino, especially early ones. I have read in various magazines about upgrading the original ignition to something more modern. What about fans? Since the car is being dismantled anyway, this might be the right time. I would like to keep it as original as possible but since it will be used frequently, there might be a few items to do to make it that little bit better. Thank you in advance for your help.
