Mattel has some good ones in 1/18: 288 & 250 GTO 250 CA spyder F355's The Daytonas are OK, better then the Giodi & Solido versions. The UT F355's are the same as the Mattel cars. The 550, 360,F50 & F40's are a toss up between the makers. Jouef/Eagles Race makes the P3/4, 250 SWB, & 288 GTO Evoulution, not the greatest quality though, but no one else makes those. The new Exoticar catalog has pics of the new Mattel 550 Barchetta, 333SP & 360 spyder in 1/18. I've heard Ferrari has canceled the agreement with HW/Mattel for 2002. |

I agree, I just recently got into the 1:18 models after realizing I can't get all 1:1 models. I have about 6 of the hot wheels and 1 other brand, I think a Burago. The hot wheels are better than the Burago, I have nothing else yet to compare them with. They do give me everything I want, I don't want something expensive and perfect. They just sit in my cube at work and every hour or so I take a quick glance and that puts me in my happy place. |

Personally, I have bought all types of models. the best bang for buck and up to scale detail contoured body parts etc is the hot wheels hands down. most of the other models , burago, polisti, maisto are a bit off and the cars look a bit distorted. Leo |

The large HotWheels r ok but they dont have the quality of a Burago or Eagle or other top flight kits. BTW if any1 has any old Ferrari Hot Wheels for sale let me know. I'd love to get a regular (tiny)size P4 or a 1970 512M race car Interested in other marques as well of exotic or race car miniatures |

I think I've said this before elsewhere here, but I bought their 250 California Spyder and was pleased with the quality of detail. Beautiful wire-wheels, decent engine detailing, even the tube-frame chassis is well executed. Good paint job as well (no orange peel). The interior doesn't match the rest of the car. The steering wheel is too thick and the stickers used for the gauges are pretty cheesy. I bought mine at Wal-Mart for $25 Cdn, so for the price, you can't beat that. |

Since Mattel has gained the monopoly on model Ferraris, has anybody bought one of their 1:18 scale Hot Wheels brand Ferraris? Is the quality any good? Thanks, Jerrett |
