Hello again people, I am in Torino now, had a great day. First we went to the Lancia collection where they had 3 Stratos, a LeMans prototype with 308QV twin turbo 700hp engine, bunch of other rally cars & the usual sedans, Their chief designer is now an American & they just stole the contract for the next Pope mobile from MB :-)
Then we went to Pininfarina where we met the founders daughter Lorenza & we got to see the Modulo, P6 boxer protoypt, Mythos, Jaguar F type, a wierd 63 Corvette & more goodies, then we went to a factory that does interiors for Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, etc. I got a sample of leather to redo my Countach interior. They say I can send them the interior & for $5000 they will redo it in 5 weeks :-) They also had a wild new custom Jaguar that looks like a shorter taller XJ220 but it will use a twin turbo V8 from the XKR, guess who thats for? 1 clue, He's a Sultan :-)
We were at Zagato yesterday where we saw a Bugatti EB110S & they have a new Aston martin prototype that they couldnt show us :-(
Lastly we went to Tom Tjarda's studio, designer of the Pantera, & had lunch with him , then we all walked back to our hotel
Luigi, I have your phone, if we get back to Milan I will call u, not sure if I will have time.
Dove la casa chiusa in Torino ? ;)

Absolutely serious! I think he ran Daytona too. Maybe we'll see Henry Ford III in a Corvette at Mid-Ohio (-:

Luigi,

Wow, what a story...Your father has collection that is the stuff of dreams and your uncle's is even better (a 250 California - bloody hell!).

A true sports-car enthusiast will always have an open mind, so I fully understand your decision to buy a Porsche (let alone the fact that the GT2 is a sensational car).
I'm FAR FAR FAR away from being bored! Tell us about the F40!!!

Manu
P.S. Bill are you serious mate.....Maserati driving for Porsche!!! LOL!

Manu, I come from a family of Ferrari fans, my father owned 10-12 of them(incl. Daytona,275 GTB4,BB 512...), last of which was a Testarossa monospecchio which was the first Ferrari I drove at age 18.My mother is from a town 30 minutes from Maranello, so I would say that there really is Ferrari blood in my veins. My uncle, from mother's side used to be a Ferrari collector, he had a huge garage with spotlights were he had one of the best collections at the time in Italy:
275 GTB4
Daytona
250 California spyder
288 GTO
F40
and others.
Growing up in this environement it's normal that I too have developed a LOVE for performance cars, especially Ferraris, which are always in the top spot in my heart.
But I also have always tried to keep an open mind and therefore highly consider Porsches too, esp. some more focused models like GT3, GT2, RSs...
Regarding your question on the F40, It is along story with this car and I think I bored you people enough!

Luigi - you're an Italian (that really should be obvious from your name)?? Driving a GT2 Porsche? That's heresy! LOL!

I read your post about how fast the GT2 really is..... I, too, have heard that treading on the gas leads to McLaren F1 style accleration... But did you ever consider buying an F40? Especially since you were looking for a trackday car....
