John, if u really enjoy driving fast & may take it to the track every now & then I would go for the Porsche. If u dont then just get what your heart wants. I dont know about the 348 but on my 308 & 512TR the engine has to come out every 15,000 miles (2 years for me) for polishing the cams replacing cam timing belts, etc. If it was me I'd go for the Porsche or save up a little more $ & get a 355, I heard 355 coupes r not too expensive in Paris or Monaco Good Luck |

To get an idea of servicing costs in the UK try one of the independents, they are much more reasonably priced & most will give an honest opinion on the pitfalls of buying & running the car. I use Foskers at Brands Hatch & I've also bought parts from QV London. QV offer fixed price servicing see their website for details. Go to UK Ferrari Owners Club site & try the links. Yes cambelts on a 348 is an engine out job! Go with the Ferrari!! www.hamletcg.co.uk/qv www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk www.foskers.co.uk |

Hi everyone, may I first say this is a great website with lots of Ferrari info. Don't hate me but I am currently a Porsche owner seeking to change cars. I have two in mind. A Porsche 911 Turbo 2 or a Ferrari 348TS. Both are similar in price in the UK if one goes for a left hand drive Ferrari (say 30K sterling). On paper, the Porsche is faster, stops quicker and is far more reliable and cheaper to run. My wife prefers the Ferrari, and in my heart (not head) so do I. Can anyone advise on the following: intervals for timing belt changes (is this really an engine out job ?), intervals for services, has anyone owned both before and can advise on experiences ? thanks |
