Thanks for the good story Mike...I thought that by using a carrier that hauls Ferrari's for all of the major Ferrari events, Bentley NA, and Rolls Royce NA, they would be a top choice. Again, they may be great at handling my Ferrari, but are horrible about meeting commitments. I'll definitely use Intercity Lines next time.

For the love of God, do NOT use Autobahn!!

I used them to ship one of my cars last year. When it was being unloaded, they were lowering the lift and did not have the car backed up enough, and caught the edge of the front bumper on the back of the truck while it was being lowered. The front end was lifted about a foot, then the bumper slipped, the front end of the car fell, and whole bumper had to be replaced.

As it that wasn't bad enough, I learned the Autobahn does not own its own trucks, it contracts other companies to do the actual hauling. Autobahn contracted a California firm called Platinum Auto Transport to move my car. Collecting the insurance money for the damage took about 6 months, a hundred phone calls, and a zillion headaches. I think the only reason I got the money at all was because I spotted and confronted the owner of Platinum at Barrett-Jackson in front of a large group of people.

Beware of Sam at Autobahn. Smoother talker, but does not walk the walk. Only talks the talk.

They overpromise and under-deliver. Big time. Be careful!

Time for a good story and a bad story:

Good - Called Intercity lines and wanted my 328 shipped to Florida ASAP (figured a week at best for pickup). Jeff called me back and said a truck would be here on Sunday (it was Thursday) and the driver would call me with details. 1 hour later, driver called and said she would be at my house between 0800 and 0900 Sunday morning - she arrived at 0830. Very professional and was expereinced in loading Ferrari's. The best part is she headed right out and said the car would be in West Palm *the next day*! And it showed up early in the afternoon on Monday. Again, she called in advance and kept my father (who was overseeing delivery) in the loop and was very prompt. I was very pleased and will use them again.

Bad Story - Had all of my vehicles (except F-car...I trailered it) shipped to Knoxville when we moved here from Houston. Used DAS. Paid big bucks to have my Porsche enclosed carried and white glove treatment. Long story short, car sat outside of terminal for a week in a muddy lot. Porters obviously drove it around since the number of muddy footprints in it were numerous. There was mud everywhere. One top of that, they shipped it on an open trailer...it was covered in road grime and then to top it all off, they toweled it off before delivering it without washing it and scratched the whole car all over. (I know about the road grime since they missed a spot when they wiped it off). Additionally, they scratch a rim when they chained *through* my hollow spoke rims and winched the car down. Eventually, DAS paid up for the damage including having the car wet sanded and buffed. My Land Rover Disco was delivered with the front bumper guard and bumper bar hanging off, a flat tire, and a chipped windshield. According to the investigator, the company winched the truck down with the brush bar, busted it and just delivered it that way....they eventually paid for that too but it was a PITA.

Anyway, thought I would share with the group of two experiences. Intercity Lines has won my business from now on.

I hate to say this, but I think its true: truck drivers are some of the most unreliable people I have ever met. When I bought my 348 Sypder, I tried to get one of them to pick it up. One of them promised to pick the car up for delivery to SF, but after 2 weeks of promises, never did. I had to fly back, and drive it home. Great drive, but something that I didn't really want to do, and since there were time constrains, I had to really make time on the drive. All of that could have been avoided, had the trucker done what he said he would do. The solution is a trailer that you own or have access to.

Actually, I am currently in the process of using Horseless Carriage and never again. They were supposed to pick up my car on the 4th of this month, finally on the 14th, they picked up my car after 3 delays. To make matters worse, a 3-5 day delivery promise has turned into over a week.

Horseless Carriage may be experts at handling your Ferrari, however, they are unable to keep deadlines and schedule commitments. What was supposed to be a delivery tomorrow (Tuesday) has turned into "end of the week".

Don't use them. I just recently used them to ship my Ferrari from Michigan to Calif. The driver apparently had little experience loading Ferrari's.(made me quite nervous)The Ferrari made it here safely, but I had made arrangements for them to haul all of my cars and they shipped the most expensive one and left me hanging on the rest. I was quite fortunate to make other arrangements at the last minute. I will not use this company ever again. Pay the extra $100-200 extra dollars and use Horseless Carriage, or other reputable company.
