I've found that the Ferrari gets pulled over more only at night. Late at night they seem to attract attention, which is almost good. If someone was stealing my car I would want them to pull it over too. They never really hassled me that much and always let me go no problems. Granted I wasn't doing anything wrong. I have noticed that the cops I know are always looking to race. I never really go at it, but they always look over at me, yell something and then go screeching away with tires smoking. Some of the guys in my town are pretty cool (and need to be reminded that they are indeed cops, not highschool kids or something).

Good story Dave. It's nice to hear sometimes that the police have a sense of humor. Who knew?

Never pulled over in 2500 miles the Lotus; all my tickets are in the Honda. It's a stealth car being mostly plastic. No front plate either.

For the contrarian viewpoint: my BMW mechanic firmly believes that I am LESS likely to get pulled over in my Lotus than in a 'normal' car. He thinks the police don't hassle people who look wealthy and asked me if I had ever seen an S-class Mercedes or 7 series BMW pulled over.

I guess it just depends...

I have been pulled over several times in situations where Suzy minivan would have sped right through. Red makes it worse. No tickets since I put in Valentine 1. Sometimes they just want to look at the car.

I was pulled over because my front licence plate was not attached....this while I was leaving a neighborhood and going no more than 20mph.

Another time, a cop was right behind me at a light. We were both turning into a shopping center. Before the light turned green, he came over the loudspeaker and asked if I wanted to race and then gave me a thumbs up.

Red definetly waves a red flag. The fact it is a Ferrari does the rest.

I have been pulled over twice with my car in the short time I have owned it. Once was because here in the state of Minnesota you have to have front license plates on your car and I didnt have them....basically the guy saw a bright red Ferrari driving at 2am and had to find some reason to pull me over. He then proceeded to Breath-a-lize me because it "Looked" like I had been drinking...I hadnt I was coming from work. The second time I was pulled over was because I had a head-light out.....GRRRR. I really think that cars that are Red are more apt to stick out to the bacon boys around the mid-west. I have had a blue ZR-1 and never got noticed, one of my friends has a silver porsche and the other a red one....the red one sticks out a 100 times more. I have driven buy the silver one without ever noticing but never miss the red one.

Are Ferrari owners hassled by the police more so than owners of other sports cars? How many of you have been issued only a warning BECAUSE you were driving a Ferrari? And to what degree does the color of a car factor into the equation? Just curious.
