Luger's - foot of the Williamsburg bridge on the Brooklyn side. Don't ask for a menu - let the waiter do his thing.

Wm Hart-what place is that north of the city with better steaks and great wine? I live 50 miles north. We should meet up there for dinner. Westchester?

If you come to New York and want a steak, not going to Luger's (the Brooklyn location) is sacrilege. Yes, there are other steak houses (my choices would be the cote de boeuf at le marais, a kosher french butcher/bistro near times square or the double eagle aged porter house at del frisco's) but they are not Luger's. Part of the experience is the hassle of getting there, enjoying what was-until it got trendy- a truly shitty neighborhood and having to pay cash unless you hold the house credit card. Also, go there with someone who knows the routine; it will be even more fun. (BTW, i now go to a place with better steak than Luger's plus a serious french and california wine list, including pre war lafites and a good selection of '61 margaux, and which serves on a outdoor patio in good weather, but it is 35 miles north of the city. The guy learned how from the Luger kitchen.Killer)

You might want to try the ESPN club in Times Square for the race. Try Maloney and Procelli's for steak.....fantastic!! I've been to many in steak houses NY, including Peter Lugers (which is a pain to get to), and Maloney and Porcelli's food was outstanding. If you want the thickest pork chop you've ever had, try Houstons.

I will be in NYC for about five days, from the 27th to the 31st. I had heard about Luger's and everyone seems to agree! I'll have to check it out. I dont know if I'll have time to make it to Brooklyn though, except on Sunday when I go visit my family in Queens. Thanks for all the ideas guys, especially the sports bar where I may find the F1 Race. Cant miss that!!

Luger's in the best steakhouse in the world. Champs Sportsbar in Tribecca, on Hudson, has a good crowd for the F1 races. Check it out.

Luger's in Brooklyn still the primo steak place in this city. MANY 2nd placers (Morton's, Ruths Chris, Manhattan Cafe-my favorite). As far as the GP, most sports bars are fixated on b-ball at this time. GP not a big bar event, although I'm sure we could find somewhere.

When are you coming? Be happy to show you around.

I will be visiting NYC in two weeks, and I was wondering if there was any place to watch the Brazil GP on Sunday? I lived there for two years while I went to school, but I always watched them at home. Any ideas?

Also, what is the BEST steakhouse in NYC? I've been to Sparks and Luger, but I was wondering about Nick & Stef's?

Thanks to anyone who can help...

Ernesto
