Ming,
IM charged HK$3000 (US$385) for the check-up. For this you just get a two or three page checklist which seems to cover everything that you can think of. E.g. They highlighted 3 items on mine - all minor - but I got the owner/IM to fix them before I took the car (melted air inlet, cracked cigarette lighter, and a frayed tube somewhere).
The check seemed to be the same as what the AA do for US$100 (or $77 if you're a member), but I figured I may as well pay up as IM are more familiar with Ferraris than the AA. (Incidentally the AA checks that I've had before on other cars have been excellent).
Now..if only it would stop raining so I could get out and use it abit more....

Steve - the right car, the right colour and the right mods.

Congratulations. As always a rosso F355 Spyder looks lovely and the challenge grill just goes with it perfectly - will be sounding wonderful now too, esp with no roof!

Hi Steve,

Could you advice how much IM charged for inpsection on your F355?

For a missing front plate, a fine of US$60.00 will be issued by the authority with no excuse in HK.

Julian - Tubi exhaust

Ming- it was a private sale - but I did get IM to check it out first. Have you been to the IM service garage - much better than the showroom.

Plates - I'm going to have to check that - Ive never seen a car without front plates in Hong Kong, so I guess I don't have a choice

Ernie,

It sounds like if you get pulled over you should just say your back plate fell off and was lost. This is the front plate you just moved to the back.

I live in Maryland and am supposed to have a front plate. I am also taking my chances. Except I keep the extra plate in the car. I plan on just saying it fell of about 20 miles ago. I held it on with Velcro which I lost, so until I get some more, I am going to hold it in the car.

Congratulations on your car. We have to have plates on the front of our cars here in the US too but most cops turn a blind eye to it.

The only time I have been hastled was when they started installing the photo enforced stop lights. They take a picture of the front of the car and the person driving it, then mail you the ticket, but with no front plate they can't do that very well. But here is the stupid thing. When I asked the department of motor vehicles why you "had" to have the front plate they said that, in the event that your back plate gets stollen, or lost they you need to take the front plate and put it on the back until you get new ones. HELLO!!!!!! If you have to put new plates on anyway, what difference does it make?!

So I just take my chances, cause in not going to ruin a $3,000 bumper just cause they want me to have an extra plate just in case.

Nice Nice Nice

I can not believe though they make you put a license plate in the front. That should be officially banned for all Ferrari.

Maybe the Italian Government should step in here and use the international political cloud to make this a mandatory law!
