Yeah there are a lot of Boxsters. My big case for Ferraris is that there are faster cars by the numbers, but there is no other car that feels as fast. When you accelerate in any Ferrari, you know it. So although there are cars that are better at pinning you into the back of the seat, there are none that are as fun. I will admit that some of the higher Porsches, in particular the 911 Turbo and GT2 are pretty cool, but Ferraris are still better. My car has had some work done to it, the hood is replaced and the nose is banged out to being close, but it still needs the finishing touches. I just took it around for like 30 minutes because it needs to be run, it must have been quite the site with primer on parts of the nose and a hood that doesn't match color wise, it's red, but not a perfect match. The painting and the final straightening is all that is left, soon I'll have it back for good. I can only dream of it now, but those short rides to run it a little do wet my taste buds. |

Brett, Just wondering if you were out beating Boxers, does that mean your car is all fixed and your able to drive it now? I'm just wondering about how everything is going. Hope we can see some more pictures soon. Jeff |

I find these debates very amusing. In Europe, Porsche & Ferrari are the main rivals. Forget Ford and any Asian rubbish. As a Porsche owner I fully respect any Ferrari, I believe they are more beautiful looking cars and have an added mystique about them - predominately because they are so expensive and hence rare. On paper, model for model, Porsche produce higher performance, better handling, easier to live with cars,(I discount the boxster which I believe to be a hairdressers car.) So, for me, Porsche are better cars but I would love to own the Ferrari, and who needs to race from traffic lights, you need very twisty roads to know if you have a capable car. |

Boxsters ARE a dime a dozen, silly Yuppie Porsche's, now a 911 GT2 or a 993 Turbo is a Man's car |

I just sold my 99 Boxster for an 85 QV. I can tell you that in a number of ways, the Boxster is a "better" car....faster, smoother, easier to drive. HOWEVER, it in no way compares to the overall experience of driving a Ferrari nor does it look nearly as good. When I look at my 308 (my first Ferrari) I just think "What a beautiful car!" And even though it's much more work to drive than either of the two Porsches I've owned, I'm glad I made the purchase. For me, my QV is not an everyday driver, but on those days when I do get her out, I'm pretty happy. Giving credit to a line from an early Richard Prior movie, I can sum up my change in vehicles by saying ...."my Porsche was like j**king off, but my Ferrari, now that's pure pu**y". |

Bret- It seems like the boxsters are becoming a dime a dozen.I see them everywhere. I have often wondered how my 83qv would do against one. To me it is pointless to race someone off the line. Number one its not what a Ferrari is made for and number 2 who wants to beat up the clutch like that. They are not exactly cheap to replace. |

It always annoys me when a Hyundai tries to race me when I take my car out for a stroll. But the funniest thing I have ever seen was once a guy in a honda was to busy staring at my car he ran right into a stop sign and totaled his car. As for whose car is on the front bumper, I once pushed my neighbor's Porsche with a Mondial to get it to jump start. Funniest sight ever! |

Yeah seriously. The reason I never drag race, other than the fact that I don't want to lose to a rice burner/ghetto cruiser, is that so many people try and run yellow/red lights that I would hate to pull out quickly and get t-boned by someone trying to make the light. Today, a Porsche Boxster pulled up next to me on the highway and looked over and like looked at me kind of snobby, I dropped it down into 3rd and he took off so I naturally took off after him, I caught up and went blowing by him, another victory for Ferrari, another loss for those dweebs that get cool cars. |

I've always thought that these guys don't have much in their pants and have to prove their manhood by drag-racing everybody. Yes alot of these Civics would blow the doors off my GT4, but they can't even turn! Their suspensions are setup so hard, that they just skate and squirm all around a corner. Nothing is more boring than going in a straight line! I've just let these little boys blow right past me, when I catch up, they're the ones pulled off to the side by the cops J. |

Greg, I've got a 308 QV & a modified 3000GTVR4, in acceleration & top speed the GTVR4 will annihilate the 308 but in braking & handling the 308 is better. |

Greg -- you are definitely not alone! I'm thinking about getting a bumper sticker: WHY DOES EVERY A**HOLE WANT TO GET IN A F***ING SPEED CONTEST Doesn't seem to matter what they have -- old pick-up, minivan, turbo Eclipse (which probably can beat a TR). I have enough trouble trying to maintain a low profile -- I work near the main Police Station and a bunch of officers work out at my health club. I usually just mind my own business too and hope they go away. |

It seems as though the Ferrari guys don't drive their cars either because almost every Ferrari for sale has less than 30,000 miles on it. Kinda strange how that seems to happen and we are talking 25 year old cars. |

I don't know quite often when I drive my 308 I get a guy with a Mitsubishi 3000/modified Honda who wants to race. I don't quite understand this either. I know guys with 911's who are cool but I don't understand the racing at the stop light. Normally, I just mind my own business. Does anyone else have this problem? |

It kills me more than anything to hear about the people who own magnificent cars like these and drive them hardly...or only on weekends...and never on a track. It just Kills my soul. Recently I heard of an owner of a 250LM...apparently he hardly drives it. Granted he has many other Ferraris...but I don't think I could hold back...I'd have to track the hell out of that car every chance I got. Of course assuming I could afford it. I can also understanding not having time in a lot of cases, but damnit man! If you got it...DRIVE IT!!! |

This topic popped up in a recent thread. What r your dealings with the Dweebs ? How can we convince them thats SUVs & Beetles r Really cool & that they should go buy them & leave cool sports cars to people who will give them a good home with TLC ? I remember this dope owner of an unforetunate Viper I was looking at who yelled at me "Dont look at it if u cant afford it " WTF, how did trailer trash boy get a Viper ? I was cool & told him about the FCA track events & he was staring in disbelief that people actually drive sportscars on a race track, His 2 companions thought he was a dork to cus it seems all he ever did was wipe it down & hardly ever drove it Dork |
