Ah, the GT4 may be faster but can you feel the wind in your face?*S* I'll trade a couple HP for the ragtop anytime. My dealer does pull the motor for the 30K but he says he doesn't have to, he just likes to so he can do a better job. I heard only the 'T' needs the pull, not the QV. Hmmm...makes you wonder huh?

ive owned my gt4 for 14 years, it will blow any stock mondial into the weeds on any level. The back seat is useful for one person i actualy had someone sit there for a 360 mile trip with more complaints about the noise than the limited space. The service angle is very different also, the mondial is much less service friendly. My local dealer in Atlanta says thay pull the motor for a major service, not so on the gt4. A good tune up by someone who knows what they are doing will keep the carbs right for years. T he key words are someone who knows what they are doing!!! The early V8 cars are becoming like the old Jag XKE's, The prices are so low that people can afford the initial purchase , but have NO idea how expensive proper service& parts are.If you are a pretty good shade tree mechanic you can do a lot of simple r& R , but unless you have the proper tools, dont even kid yourself that you can set the ignition or carbs & not end up with a repair bill that will be a hundred times the cost to do it right the first time! A cheep ferrari mechanic is a false economy, check with your local club & a LOT of members to find out who is worth the money. My car has been fetured in a few magazines & was recently tested by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine at Road Atlanta in 4/2000 check out my site @ http://home.earthlink.net/~pdmracing/

I have an 85 Cabriolet; never been in a GT4. Personally, I prefer the Pininfarina body. As Peter said, fuel injection makes life easier. I do very little of my own work, but I'm learning to do more! The back seats are small but useable. Perfect for kids. Adults on short trips okay. The Cabriolet (convertible) is the whole point; it's great in nice weather! If it's faster than a GT4 it's not by much, but it'll go. Later models have ABS. Drawbacks? Passenger legroom for your right foot doesn't exist nor does driver's left foot. Some leak water although so far mine doesn't. Rear trunk storage is golf clubs only (soft bag) and no interior storage to speak of at all which is plain stupid design. No cup holder either... but I love it! Thoughts of top down in spring is keeping me alive now!

I've never driven a Mondial, so my comments here are about my GT4. I love the looks, I think Pininfarina could not make it better with the Mondial. The rear seats in the GT4 are useless for people, great for groceries and luggage. The carbureted sound is pure bliss (popping, spitting, burbling, etc...). Although the GT4 is very mechanically finicky, being handy with mechanics is a prerequisite. These cars are automatically older, so service histories are a must. Electrics are simple which use Bosch relays, starters, alternators, GBC fuses, etc...

This is only a little bit of what I can say. Please visit my web site and email me for any other questions. Go to:

I'm an Aussie about to buy his first Ferrari and I like the four seater V8's. Can anyone suggest a reason to pick a Mondial over a gt4 besides price and fuel injection? Oh and what are the common problems I should look for when buying one? I kinda prefer the shape of the gt4 more.
