Martin,

Thanks, that is what I suspected. Good to hear about the water temp as well.

Nick,
Follow the manual vis a vis checking oil.make sure the oil temp is up,keep the engine running, unscrew the cap and read.
I have 11,000 mi on a '99 euro and have never had to add oil in between oil changes (every 3k mi)
Russell, there should be a space on either side of the engine cover. If it is too wide and the cover is loose (which may be the rattle Nick refers to) it can easily be tightened by turning the screw which sits on the engine cover arm.
That crack allows heat of the engine to dissipate and is imp't especially if no rear challenge grill is in place.
I use liqui-tech products.I rarely have to wash the car since their Fast-Finish product takes off the dirt and leaves a silk like finish.
The car is gorgeous in silver.
Incidentally I just returned from a 1000mi jaunt into B.C. and was in bumper to bumper standstill for 1 1/2hrs at the border and the water temp never got to 100,and it was 84 air temp.So if you fellow 360 owners get into a b to bumper situation don't worry the car will not boil over even if you do.

I am also new with my 360 (although my 360 is 18 months old, it is new to me). I also hear a slight rattle. I think it is because the engine cover (trunk or whatever you call it) is not gasketed so when the entire area is slightly cold it rattles a bit.

Although this does lead to my next (rather weak) question. I am assuming there are supposed to be slight gaps around the "trunk" where the engine resides. In the rear view mirror I can see hairline areas of light through the edges of the "trunk." When I was parked in the rain overnight (dont ask), and woke up the next day I had a small amount of water in the engine area. This is normal right? It evaporated fairly quickly.

I am assuming it is done this way to let noxious fumes out of the car, any comments?

Don't have answers for your questions... but BEAUTIFUL CAR!!! :-)

Well wait a second... I'm sure I'm just as anal about keeping my car clean as most Ferrari owners... here is what my recommendation is on that part.

I will assume you will wash it yourself at home in your driveway. Go purchase some new, white, made in the USA towels. Preferably the Fieldcrest or Canon 100% cotton towels. DON'T buy anything made anywhere else. Even when they say 100% cotton, most likely there is a blend of materials in the towel.

I swear by Zaino for keeping my car perfect. Many people love the stuff. Some on here use it. Klasse is also very good as well as the professional Meguire's line.

Zaino has its critics because there are many steps and products involved. This is only the case when initially using Zaino. For your car, to start out, you would wash the car with dishwashing liquid (like liquid Dawn) to remove all of the other waxes currently on the car. You may even clay bar the car to get rid of any contaminants. You would then apply Z1 to prep your clear coat. Then as many Z2 coats (the actual "wax") as you want with as many Z5 coats (swirl mark remover if you have swirls) in between as you want. After the initial applications, you can use Z2 any time.

I wash my car every week using the Zaino car wash. Car always looks beautiful. They have a detail spray that is wonderful for touch ups. I use this when waxing the car and for touching up small areas.

Their tire gloss won't sling off your tires onto your paint. I use this stuff too and love it. The only Zaino products I don't use are the glass polisher and leather cleaners. Best leather cleaners/conditioners IMHO are the Zymol cleaner and conditioner.

Dry with your 100% cotton towels. Honestly, I dry the car using a Waterblade (have to be VERY careful when using these) and then COMPLETELY dry the car with an electric leaf blower. Sounds crazy but it works. Try it and I am sure you will love it. It gets water out of the smallest crevices and cuts your drying time in half. Just make sure it is electric and that your work space is clean before you start washing... don't want to blow dirt over your wet car! Hope this helps.

Keep the engine running when checking the oil.

You shouldn't be adding any oil between services. Only time I'd add more is before taking the car on a long trip (check the level first then add if needed) or after a few track sessions.

What rattles behind your head? When cold, the car makes a lot of different noises when you start the engine. It could be any number of things. Best thing to do is to have the dealer ride with you so he could hear that particular noise.

I use a combo of Griot's and Meguiar's products.

Listen to the engine sing at the upper RPM range is pure joy! Get the engine warmed up first then try shifting near redline. That's about as close to driving a F1 car as I'd ever hope to be! :-)

First of all the car is more than I hoped for...and I love love the F1..

Here are my questions

1. Oil checking. My manual says with the engine running check the level with the cap resting on the tread..seems different from other posts. What should my expectation be for oil consumption?

2.When cold it rattles for 2 minutes behind my head! Not sure what it is.

3. Recomendations for cleaning/waxing

4. 600 miles done..ready to take beyond 5000rpm..now the fun starts
