Dave's got a good idea. and to start a religion, you only need to congregate ... I believe ... once a month and prove that you are providing religious services. Very cool Russell. Even 6th sounds great out of all the entrants that go into the world series of poker. I've seen the specials on DISC/TLC channels where they mention the contest. |

I finsihed 6th--Yes I made the final table. It will be on ESPN in a couple of months or so they tell me. I was a bit dissapointed as first place was 2M and I entered day 5 second in chips. Still it was definately a thrill. Actually I was indirectly quoted by the winner (Robert Varkonyi) when he said to the New York Times (paraphrased) "I sat next to all sorts of people . . . One guy even told me about the ferrari he was going to buy." I told him that on day 3 with about 50 players left. As to gabe, no he never won, and I dont think he ever got very close. Still for an announcer he is a decent player. Oh and before you ask, this is the first time I have played in the main event--But I have won some smaller ones. |

Cool stuff, Russell. Didn't Gabe Kaplan win one of those once, or was that a publicity stunt like having Matt Damon sit at one of those just when his movie "Rounders" came out? Andre (off-topic again...) |

Russell, Great story. How far did you make it? For the Ferrari, I'm assuming the final table. I've always wanted to play in the World Series, but my game has really been limit hold 'em. Dennis Walsh [email protected] |

Play poker. I used the money I won playing at the World Weries of Poker in Las Vegas to buy my 360. PS. I could have bought it anyway, but could not justify the price. My wife said "well you play in those poker things, so if you win the money there go ahead and buy one." 3 weeks later . . . |

"BTW, anybody into engineering? What's the better, mecanical or electrical? :D " Financial. :-) If you want to make *real* money, you won't be doing it as an engineer. The people I know who have really big $$$ are investment bankers of one kind or another. Even a tiny percentage of billion dollar deals really adds up! BTW, I have an electical engineering degree but I'm a software developer.

Start small. Move up in the automotive world. You can always start buying cars because they are some of the best investments you can have. |

Go to college; study hard. Go to business school; study hard. Get hired as the CFO of a major public company like WorldCom. Steel and rape the company and its shareholders blind. Then build a $50 million estate in Florida to shelter all your embezzled lute |

Ken, Speaking as an electrical engineer, the jobs are fairly good but most of my mechanical friends seem to be in the same position. If I had it to do over, I would probably be Mechanical. Oh like it matters.. I'm hawking wheels anyway. Dennis Walsh [email protected] |

Rob banks - after all they have the money. Just joking of course - see what a few glasses of wine does. I guess a 360 Spider would stand out as a get away car. Having recently spent some time in Cincinnati, Ohio - it is the bank robby capital of the world. It is not unusual to have 4 or 5 bank robbies in a day. I have been shocked by this. One day I went to the Fifth Third Bank where I have some accounts. It was closed due to a robby. I then called the manager of the Key Bank where I have an account. He could not talk to me since they had been robbed. All joking aside, the advice below is really great. Just remember you do have limited time and energy. Spend it wisely. You have as much time as any Rockfeller. Dave |

Racer, I have a degree in aerospace engineering which is an offshoot of mechanical. As far as the type of engineering to go into, it really depends on what you want to do. I am much more mechanically inclined so I went the mechanical route. But, electrical engineering is really the place to be right now. They are in higher demand and get higher salaries than most other types of engineers.

I'm only 17 so I can't really comment. But... stock options were always great with some in my family, so I'll recommend that. BTW, anybody into engineering? What's the better, mecanical or electrical? :D Maybe I too will own a Ferrari some day. hehe |

Why limit driving a 360 to the track? I drive mine just about everywhere. It's an excellent street car (where to park it safely is the only problem). You don't need to speed excessively to enjoy the car.

Exactly what Jake said! Also, focus on your net worth, not your income. Don't make the all too common mistake of confusing income for wealth. One last thing, real estate, real estate, real estate. |

Only driving a 360 at the track? It's just my opinion, but what a waste of a wonderful street car... Why not save your money and buy a race car if your only going to track it. I think that's half of owning a Ferrari, Restraint! Knowing when not to put your foot in it when driving on the street. |

Start a company, landscaping, computer repair, it really does not matter. Something you like doing, or at least you are good at. Be upfront + honest with everyone, treat them the way you want to be treated + Never screw anyone over. Treat your customers better than the competition and strive to be the best in whatever field you are in. Follow these suggestions and you should eventually be able to afford a new Ferrari (maybe even several!!!) |

Well, I dont mean to discourage anyone from posting to this thread by directing it to these archives, because it is very interesting, so keep them comin'...(also I'm not sure if age/owner profile is discussed in these) But Riccardo, I remembered in the archives there have been a couple good threads on exactly this topic, just in case there isn't such an overwhelming response on this one: 1.)http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/21206.html 2.) http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/1747.html 3.) http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/4043.html

Hello Guys, I currently own a 1993 Porsche 911 (964 for those of you who know about Porsches) but my dream, no doubt like most of the world's male population, would be to buy a brand new 360 (as well as keeping a Porsche as a second car). I say 360 as I can only see myself driving it on the track, otherwise my licence will be toast... Anyways, to make my dream a bit closer I was wondering how those of you who've bought brand new Ferraris did it? I mean, how old are you and how did you achieve this dream? What do you work in? I guess I'm just curious to see the typical owner profile more than anything. Thanks for any input. Best regards Riccardo |
