Rob,
Sorry to hear about the lay of your fellow workers, but be glad you have work to go to for the meanwhile. I am sure if it was the other way around they would be sad for you to leave but deep down they would be happy to have kept their jobs. All I can say is be determined in your search and find something that will make you happy first-making money is second priority. IMO

best regards,
Marcus

I did it Marcus and Rob. Same company for 16 years and I finally decided to pull the trigger 4 months ago & not looking back either. The future looks bright - I gotta wear shades!

Marcus - don't hesitate - DO IT.
No guts, no glory.
And don't let it get you down mate. I know what you it is to be in your situation.

Cheers

75% of my team was let go Wednesday. I tried everything I could over the past year to make their projects as visible to executives as possible, but in the long run there wasn't much logic and reason to who they picked. I guess I should be happy they kept me for at least another quarter, but much guilt the team that trusted you is gone.

Man, I really do need to start my own business. This corporate world is evil.

Dont just think of starting a business... do it. I was laid off 2 times in 1 year and decided enough is enough. Started my own company 1 year ago with less than $10K in capital. So far, so good. I sure dont miss reporting to some moron who knows half what I do but double the right people. I have not attended a single "meeting" in the past year! I used to spend 30 hours per week in "critical" meetings. That means they were long, pointless and usually resulted in nothing!

Figure out what you want to do and are good at, put together a business plan and execute. Take no prisoners. The "Big Guy" is no worry... I have found small, fast and efficient to be capable of whipping the big guys who are stuck in Large, Slow and clumsy mode.

Anyhow, good luck in either event. I know it really sucks being in limbo!

Rob,

Yea it is rough out there, everytime I turn around a company is laying off or going under and a lot of the corporate offices are in Dallas. It is very frustrating to say the least. I also wish I could start a business, it would be a little easier to deal with...I will also check the Texas section for the karting event.

Take care

Hey Marcus. Sprint is having a lay off this Wednesday. I'm getting sick of this every 3 months. Maybe it would be better to get out of here. There's probably better opportunities. We need to start a business, I just don't have any capital right now.

Come out to the Karting event later in August. See Texas section for info.

I had access to a computer and wanted to drop a line to you guys and see how things were going. I am still looking for a job and planning my wedding but that is about it. Had some interviews but no offers at this time, but determined to find something. Miss being on the chat here and writing to you guys. I hope everyone is doing well!

Best regards,
Marcus Mayeux
