I bought a pioneer 503 cmx about 6 months ago. I did a lot of research first. This is for my house, and I can not control the ambiant light. Well I can, but if I have to close the blinds to watch an afternoon football game, well the wife will not be to thrilled. The benefit to the screen is that it sits just above our fireplace in the family room. With a projector, I would also have to have a screen come up or downm and my wife did not like the idea of a box in the ceiling. One reason for the unit I chose is that it was the commercial model, which for $500 one could add the video card to make the funcionality the same as the consumer unit. So basically I save about 5k on buying the set vs the consumer unit. The only downside is that I use a Direct Tv/TIVO unit for my reception and the plasma (being an accurate monitor) exemplifies the distortion of compressed television. Still the picture is reasonably good, and DVD's are great. HD is great also, but I have not bothered getting a reciever yet, there simply are just not enough channels yet. Next month I may buy a plasma for my office. As i am a research nut, I will let you know how it goes. Oh the best place to do research on plasma's is www.avscience.com. simply check the plasma boards for user comments on best/worst what is coming etc . . . Kind of like this board but for TV's And of course, buy from a sponsor of F-chat. |

Guys I have a question: I have a 42inch JVC plasma which I bought from a friend. Its about 3 years old. Eveytime I switch it on...the picture appears greenish but after about 5mins the picture color gets brighter and richer. Its as if it needs to warm up. Is there something wrong? |

Be careful if you are buying used. I rent and sell these and there is a lot of stolen product on the market today. If you buy used, make sure they are a reputable dealer. I have a trade show in Vegas this week and 8 of my 42" plasmas were taken right out of the booth at the Sands convention center. If you need advice on a projector or plasma, email me and I will help you out. Plasmas have really come down in price. Costco even sells 42" (SAMPO) for under $3700.00, they start getting pricey around 50" |

I have had a variety of hi-end video monitors over the past few years, the main system being an industrial projection TV (NEC) tweaked, with line doubler, etc., using DVD as source. Recently bought one of the SHARP LCD units for our kitchen TV, ambient light and size being an issue, and the thing is delightful to watch; it is bright but not "blue" in the color white. And it is relatively cheap. If you need something for a client for a project, you can always rent something from a professional supplier. The plasma TVs that knocked my socks off were well north of 15k $, but i haven't paid attention to the latest products.Let us know what you decide. |

martin - if you can do a projector, you may want to do a projector. i have a plasma, and the only reason is because i couldn't control the ambient light in my room enough to deal witha projector. it was definitely my "second choice". that said, with the right unit, properly set up and professionally calibrated, it's absolutely not "second class". doody. |

Chris from PlasmaTVs.com The Screens are measured Diagonal. The best deal for a good screen are the Panasonic 42" and 37" If you are looking smaller than there are the 32" screens that are out right now, but they will still run between 3-5K. The Sharp LCD LC20 20" is only $ 1750. If anyone is interested, give me a call 1-800-923-8007 and I can discuss the different models. Thanks |

a few companies make sub-42" units. they're not a very good value. don't we have a plasma sponsor here? don't know what "cheap" is, but figure around $4000 for the panasonic 37". you might look at the 20-something inch LCDs. maybe $2500. doody. |
