I would put it this way. Value 550 toaday is let's say USD 150,000, in 30 years, probably 300,000 or so. But you spend about 2,000 dollars at least in maintenance each year (=60,000) plus inflation (2.5 % a year is another 170,000 costs), So the car cost you in total at least 380,000 and is worth 300,000. Doesn/t sound like a good deal. |

Mr. Doody- I relly didnt mean it like that, I just think the Daytona still holds that special place, where the Maranello is already second best to the 575. |

The production numbers will not be comparable as there will be quite a few more Maranellos than Daytonas.... but I think that 550/575s will be particularly special in the future because they marked a return to the front-engine configuration for the flagship Ferrari after 30 years away. The car is a future classic - it's looks will date FAR less than the some of the other contemporary Ferraris and they way it handles and it's engine will always be special. The barchettas espeically, will IMO, be very valuable. |

mark - you are arguing then that daytona prices will decrease because they were artificially inflated due to the mid-engine-only 12s coming out of maranello b/w then and 1997? doody. |

I doubt it will be as valuable (in relative terms)because the Daytona was the last real front engined 12 CYL GT until the intro of the Maranello. We already have the 575M and who knows whats next? |

Don't know about daytona production, but as for 550 production there is a current thread now that did discus that. If I remember correctly (and you may want to look it up I didn't) its between 120-150/yr to the US. |

Your average Daytona is now 30 years old... In 20-30 years, will the 550 Maranello be as collectable and well regarded as the Daytona is today? Are the production numbers comparable? Anybody happen to know the production numbers for the 550, how many went to the US and how many went to the UK? Thanks, Leon |
