That's great to hear Mitch! I'm glad you were refunded, but by no means in Mr. Sawyerr's efforts.

I'm still not satisfied. Anyone else? I'd still like to persue this further. If the emails are flying around in the background, please include me in on the list. Thanks! =D

The terrible thing about this jerk is that he ruins it for legitimate people. I bought the ticket because this type of raffle is very common in the Harley universe, and I commonly buy a ticket in these...I never win but the money goes to help good causes and I like to encourage those who raise money for them. It also helps to donate the money in a way that if anything goes wrong, like mr sawyerr, you have a good recourse.

I need to purchase a Lamborghini diablo replica for less than $40,000. Thanx Chris

Think maybe he was going to sell it to someone and try to pass it off as the real thing?

Jay, that is too funny! I think we have a new verb here:

"Oh man, I put 50 cents in, and that damn Coke machine Sawyerred me!"

I think it would be important to keep the extra "r" in there to avoid confusion.

IME, AOL has a low tolerance for anything fuzzy like this and might shut him off. i'll leave that for another informed citizen here.

PayPal unfortunately stinks. They are an unregulated bank. They cover nobody's ass but their own. At least in the credit card business the consumer is protected. With PayPal nobody is protected. I don't know how they get away with it.

Some states have a law where the criminal must deliver the goods that were promised. In this case Chris would actually have to buy a 360 and proceed with the raffle.

I think a fitting trubute to Mr. Sawyerrrrs contribution to this site would be a crisp photo of him properly attired in prison orange with silver accenting handcuffs. How about on Sept. 1st, the day he was supposed to be handing over the keys to the Modena. Good luck all...please make an example out of him.

This Just In:

An unidentified man expected of scamming dozens of high profile customers has been seen purchasing dozens of Ferraris and Ferrari parts. It is believed that the scammer, afraid for his life, is attempting to make amends with all of his victims.

It is believed that there is an underground reward over 10.00 for his seizure.

guys, i think this dude is a scumbag.

but you need to be thoughtful about what amount to threats of physical violence or death.

there are laws about that sort of stuff.

i run a business that is all about communities on the Internet. i can tell you that one of the few things that law enforcement will act upon (they rarely act on ANYTHING) are threats of bodily harm and death threats.

so, let's get this moron locked up where he's likely to "enjoy" being some dude named bubba's beeyatch, but be careful about what you threaten.

If you have a mail drop address, you can subpoena the drop's records and find out all his info. Mail drops (by law now I think) have to obtain verified personal info on the renter, to protect against kiddie porn rings and the like I think. Or just go to the drop and explain what can be done by way of subpoena etc. and they may tell you the info voluntarily to avoid being hit with a subpoena.

I was trying to see if I can get some more out of him. Jason, saves me the post of my findings from yesterday. Thanks guys for sendiong some of the e-mails private. I think he is on to me already. After I told him COD and or escrow agent I have not heard from him again.

I think that there are possibly enough people out there who have been hurt. Maybe it is time to post a eBay auction for the information of Chris Sawyerr. Make sure to put Ferrari in the headline somewhere.

I think you have a fair chance of getting him. I believe that it is well worth it to spend $ 3,000 one somebody that stole $1000 from you just to bring him to justice. Just the vindication is worth every penny. I also think that this is a Federal offense so the FBI will get involved. You may have to do the legwork though.

Go after him, please, take him out.

I contacted the guy who Chris was trying to sell the 348 bumpers to and here is what he sent me. I hope this helps.
I have received a address from him to send my check to:

Hi Martin

Please send the check to my business address at:

Chris Sawyerr
Citycarbrokers LLC
#219
4711 Hope Valley Road
Durham
NC
27707

Thanks

Chris

After I told him to COD he would not respond to me anymore. His e-mail is: [email protected]
You should be able to file suite in NC and sopena aol records for identity as well as eBay records. If you get enough people you may file a class action suit and get the FBI involved. This is a federal crime and most cases are above $300 so these are fellony charges to be brought against him, not misdemeaners.

Hope you catch him.

I am willing to help here, but only by email, not by public posting. Somebody who is good at Internet tracing should be designated as the info collector, and work with a couple of others to act as a team. You guys should figure out who among you wants to act as the point person. All others with info should then contact that person privately. If you guys don't get anywhere with your attempt to trace this dude, i know some people who might be able to help. Ultimately, local law enforcement may do a better job of nailing him than charities, fbi, etc., all of whom have limited resources, and bigger fish to fry. My email is [email protected] (BTW, i have handled a couple of internet matters over the years).

I have a thought:

If someone actually paid this guy through paypal, file suit against him (in a court other than small claims, where there is no discovery), subpeana his paypal records, AND his banking records (once you have the paypall records. Anyone know where paypal is located? That is where the suit needs to be filed. If on the West Coast, I can do it, if not maybe Frank?

he was pretty slick...he blocked all his feedback...though you can see that he had 7 reports of negative feedback...just can't see what it was...you have to e-mail him direct to find out...amazing how ebay kinda protects this a-hole unknowingly.

Goto ebay and search his email address that someone posted below. Look at his feedback and email the people that he did business with that gave positive feedback. See if they can provide you with the shipping or receiving address of auctions that he won or was the seller.

I would bet that those two large charities would sick their legal team on him. People like "Chris" hurt their ability to fundraise. This type of thing must happen to them all the time, and they'd probably love to have someone made an example of. Man, I wouldn't want to have a multi-billion dollar charity's legal team on my ass!

This jerk's achille heel is gonna be Paypal. He must have a way to get the money that peeps send him, whether paypal mails it to him or wire transfer to a bank account. Either way, the canceled check will have his bank account info, or the wire transfer will identify his bank and account #. It's very difficult to open a phony bank account, you usually have to present ID, SS#, way more than the average thief will do. If we look there, we'll find this guy.

In the future Chris, you may want to try and steal from poor people. The people on this board have the resources to ruin your life.

Chris Sawyerr, or what ever your true name might be.... I know you must stop by and read the comments left about you...
And the only thing I can think of is, you must be one very frightened person...
You must now be realizing as things start to unfold that you have had intercourse with the wrong people... You poor soul!

Dear Mr. Sawyerr,

Where are you and what have you been doing for the past couple days? Please drop us another note to let us know that you are not at the bottom of the ocean somewhere. Or if you are still alive, please say hi to Osama for us.

Bruce,
unfortunately I started that in a cloud of absent mind. I should have posted the result after. Sorry. I did e-mail him for the address and phone number. Hope he does not pop in here before. Sorry. This is what I wrote to e-Bay.

This e-Bay member is known to defraud people. He is consitantly offering same items for sale and does not have them neither will ever deliver them. He is defrauting the system and innocent customers.
This is the offering I have received:
To member: investprop
From member: cmpbiz

--------------------

I can offer you a 348 Front bumper that is unused and in pristine condition for $800 and split the shipping costs with you. It is factory made and not an aftermarket product.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

Chris

This is a link in which his dealings have been greatly discussed. Please also note that he has offered a lottery for a Ferrari in the past, selling tickets for $100 all proceeds to charity. None of the Charities did know about his lottery. His address is phony and so is his phone number. It is time you take this guy off the web!

If you have someone file a suit against him, you then get the power to issue subpoenas to ebay, aol, any ISP of his, etc. and you can get all his internet records. That may be useful in tracking him down.

Good Luck if you try to get Ebay involved. They will soon let you know that they will not get involved. We tried this before on a guy who was selling a Ferrari Stallion dealer showroom display. He was bidding against himself and running the price up saying he sold it and putting it back on Ebay later on to resell it again. Ebay just would not let him sell anymore but they would not offer any help in the prosecution of this guy. Why should they get involved and have to pay their attorneys. They don't care if you got screwed just don't ask them to help in the prosecution of the jerks.

tracing him isn't exactly the issue here. I think within legal boundaries that can happen and he can be prosecuted. so... shall we help fund a pool to see this guy go down?

I can't stand people that rip off others and continually get away with it.

where do I send my donation for "legal action against 'chris sawyerr'"?

Found out that Chris is on Lurking on Ebay....his user id is "cmpbiz" and his e-mail address is [email protected]

He is no longer selling things on Ebay (since his feedback has many negatives due to his FRAUDULENT AUCTIONS)....he is doing something better....he is solicitating BIDDERS via e-mail and claims that he has the same item they are bidding on and will sell it to them off Ebay....

How do I know??? Because I have been e-mailed many times by this dirtbag offering to sell me items that I was currently bidding on. One time he offered me New SET of 512TR Luggage, another time 360 chrome rims and wheels...and so on...

He's smart because he looks for big ticket auction items and bidders with deep pockets....That is why he fell into our laps...FERRARI OWNERS = DEEP POCKETS

So to contribute to Fellow Chatter's investigation of Chris Sawyerr...his Ebay USER ID is "cmpbiz" and the e-mail address that he uses is [email protected]....

Hope this info is helpful in bring Chris to justice...

Take Care and always be wary of any solicitations on the internet....

Lets give a hand to Mr. Sawyerr everyone. He deserves a thread of his own.

Lets not take this time to chastise other members for sending money to double RR Sawyerr (by the way that last name is too unique if you are going to be pulling scams -I think it draws too much suspicion). Instead, lets all console each other. This won't be the only opportunity where we are humbled by those who are ready to take advantage of our naive drive to possess material wealth. Greed makes us blind at times, and its f---ing hilarious. So much more could have been lost.. imagine if this guy sent a bunch of us emails that said he was going to sell his car for 80,000 and that the first person to send him a deposit of 5000 would get the car.

Chris has some major cajones. He continued to defend his stance, thereby buying him enough time to stage an exit and perhaps even convince more people to send their money. It worked out perfectly, the red cross took just enough time to get back to the inquisitors, Chris defended his stance AND he even used religion to solidify his reputation as an honest guy. That's fantastic. I like the nephew part too. However, if you are going to start a legitimate business would you have your 20 year old nephew make your website simply because he owes you a favor. So all in all, there are some loopholes. I guess Chris could have made more money if he spent more time on the website.

Chris, now that your cover is blown, and you will probably get away, at least do those that bought tickets and will never see their money a favor -tell us how much you pocketed. Give us a really good ending for this story. I for one am really curious. 5000? 10000? 100000? You've been posting responses thus far, just one more post. Go out with a bang man. You probably got some really intelligent people out there, so at least you owe us one last kick ass response. In some sick way, I would love to speak to you regarding your gigs. In fact I would pay you 100 for some of your stories. Some of those email responses you must have received after those people who bought tickets couldn't get a hold of you must be really something huh? The threats, the anger, the shame... Do you do this for the money or is there a sense of accomplishment when you pull one over on someone?

At the same time, aren't you afraid that someone will find out who you are? There are always ways of doing this. Do you walk with a sense that someone may be following you? Or do you sometimes wake up at night thinking someone found out where you live? I'm sure there's going to be that one person who won't stop even if you finally refund them their money. The thing is, there are people more base than you, people who are capable of doing far worse and for better causes. So is it worth being scared all the time? Or maybe you don't feel this at all.

Damn, this was a long post -I blame my extremely exhausted, overworked, over partied state.

Just my 55 cents. And I am serious about a response Chris. You owe us that.

Bravo. You make such good reading material and that is... priceless.
