Theo,
I am flying in to Boston to do some work for TJ Maxx in Natick on Sept 18, 19, 20. I'll buy you dinner if you take us in your 328.

Well, things have changed. I am not taken the 12 month contract job in Phoenix and will stay home in MA. I couldn't convince my wife to move out there.

Thanks to everyone who voluntered to drive my fcar to Phoenix for me! The offers were much less than the quotes I got (around $2,500)!

Theo

F#$K...! Jim E got to you, first... damn...

Well, Theo, first and foremost, i'm glad to see that this is no longer a dilemma for you...

Secondly, i'll give you $500 to let me drive it to Phoenix and i'll guarantee you'll have your car in less than a week... no hotel fare or airfare or anything else required... just door to door delivery; get it same as you gave it...

Ok... so you're probably not gonna take my offer... if not, try an alternative suggestion:
Why not fly your wife and kids out to Phoenix and drive your baby, yourself...? (or we'll go together and i'll do all the nasty driving for you...)
...hmmm...?

Theo,
I live in Phoenix, and I suggest you bring it with you. Whether you decide to or not you should if the opportunity comes join up with the local club, we have a lot of really fun activities and you will be definately welcome. We have at least 2 events a month, usually just social get togethers, drives, and meetings, but we also do a few local car shows and we are planning our first concours. We have about 110 members with about our average attendance is about 20-30. Email me if interested.

hear is a picture of our last meet where a member unveiled his latest acquisition. 1988 f1-87/88 s/n 102 driven by Gerhard Berger and winner of the 1988 Italian Grand prix. That was the first Ferrari Race after Enzo had passed where Ferrari came in First and Second. He let everyone sit in the car and inspect it. He attempted to start it up, but the previous owner removed the battery, so another time.

I'll move your car for you Theo. It will only cost you plane fare, a hotel for a night or two, and about 2000 miles on your car. I guarantee delivery in 2 weeks or less! :-)

Thanks for all your responses.

After posting this message, my wife and I decided to move to Phoenix for the 12 month contract instead of me travelling all the time. We decided that being together as a family is more important than our home.

So, it seems that Christmas came early for me this year: being in Phoenix (getting away from the bad weather in MA), driving my Fcar and being together with my family!

Thanks,

Theo

P.S. By the way does anyone know of a good mover for my fcar? Any recommendations would be very appreciated.

Theo,

Find a place to store your 328 (closed parking / storage / something) in Phoenix and get a rental car from your company.

Man that is a tough one...but I would have to say I would leave it home...I will admit, that I am a bit paranoid and maybe have OCD, yet peace of mind is the bottom line here...besides my brother would be happy to exercize her every so often.

If it wasnt for the Airport thing , i would take it and enjoy it during the week , but then leaving it at the airport would scare me so much that i wouldnt enjoy the family time !

Theo, if you decide to leave your 328 home (I seem to be alone in saying take it with) perhaps one of the Phoenix-area members would be kind enough to loan you his Ferrari for an occasional "fix".

leave it at home. never know what could happen to it. never know where you can store it. never know when you will be able to use it. most likely, you'll be able to use it after a long hard day at work and it will be late at night and you'll be going out and grabbing a quick bite to eat before doing more research or work in a hotel room.

I don't/haven't owned a fcar before, but I have stayed in a hotel for over 5 months, travelling home on occassion in one of two cars or by plane and it was a PITA. when I got home, it was relaxing, and it was always so soothing to take a few hours off and go driving AT HOME. taking your car there, will be worrysome where you will keep it, how it can be cared for, and what you will do w/it.

take my advice, leave it at home and cherish the moments AWAY FROM WORK with your fcar.

If you were worried about leaving it at home and no one driving it while you're away... Let your wife take it out and give it some exercise.

Leave it at home! I could not sleep knowing my car was parked outside at night, not to even mention the airport parking lot.

Theo--ship it. Since you'll be there a year, my guess is you'll skip going home on occasion. See if you can get work to pay the freight in lieu of a rental car every week. It shouldn't cost more than $1500, which you would easily spend renting a cheap car. If your only option is to drive it, you may want to leave it at home.

If you take it to Phoenix, be sure to wax it real well so that it will look nice when it gets stolen and quickly transported across the border on its way to South American drug lords.

I'd leave it home. I'd be too worried about it sitting in the airport garage and being outside all the time. Besides, when you get home to MA, it will be that much sweeter, seeing ALL the loves of your life.

driving it there could be fun or a nightmare - roll of the dice. I would take it except you cannot leave it at the airport lot- too risky

I currently live in MA but will be taking a 12 month contract opportunity in Phoenix, AZ (I'm a software consultant). I will be doing the Monday to Friday travelling and be home on the weekends.

My question to all fellow Ferrari chat members:

Do I take my fcar, an 87 328 GTS to Phoenix and drive it during the week? Or leave it home and (possibly) drive it during the weekend?

Please keep in mind that while in Phoenix I will be working most of the time but will have the evenings free. It will be parked in a corporate housing hotel at night (outside) and will be left at the airport garage during the weekend.

When I am home in MA, I will be busy spending time with my wife and 2 kids (the second just arrived 2 weeks ago!). However, if I choose not to bring it to Phoenix, it will be left in my garage and maybe twice a month will I (realistically) have time to drive it. If/when my wife let's me!

Please let me your thoughts and choices. I need to make a decision by Tuesday.

One more thing: If you choose to bring it to Phoenix, would you drive it there or have it transported? It's over 2,000 miles.

Thanks,

Theo
