Hey Andrew, there was this guy at LRP with an F40, they told me he was from Argentina so I went to talk to him, He told me he founded the Argentine Ferrari Club :-) of course you know it turns out he's your father LOL. I told him we had dinner with you in Paris. Pretty bizzare .

Can't remember if the chicane was used or not, but 58 seconds sounds too low for the Challenge pole. I remember arguing with some nut on another messaage board and pulling up data on the 96,97,98 Lime Rock times. If I recall correctly Earle got below 1:00 a few times but I don't recall anyone else getting that low so you may be the unofficial King of lime Rock.

Phil Shearer had a fast lap at last years race in a 355C with a 1:01.56 (off FNA's site). I am positive that no one else has gotten below 1:00. Keep in mind that last year's fastest lap time for the 360's was 58.80 set by Lucio Nicolodi during a practice run(and he ain't slow). No one else cracked 59 seconds. And we both know that a 360 C must be at least 2 seconds faster than a 355C.

Checking out the "wildlife" down under eh... Now we know where you can get 3 seconds at Lime Rock and 5 seconds at the Glen, just book your ticket to Australia. See I told you rest and relaxation would be worth a few seconds per lap. Just don't go back anytime soon or we will have to put you in your own higher run group so you don't terrorize us slow folks.

Great pictures by the way. You guys are welcome to get a ride in my car as well and since I don't drive quite as fast as Matt you may actually get to see some scenery as well.

Paul, look forward to finally meeting you and Greg.

Cheers,

Jon P. Kofod

William, Matt, Jon, Tim, et al. It sound like it was a great time at LRP. I wish I could have been there but my daughter turned 8 years old on August 2.

I will be at The Glen at the end of August with my 355 Challenge. Greg Owens (Greg308QV) will be coming with me and I look forward to seeing some of you again and meeting some of you for the first time.

I can't wait. This will be my first time at The Glen. Most of my time has been spent at Summit Point and VIR.

Damn, the pics didnt work out. They were of me standing next to and inside of matt's car. The ride was amazing. The cornering grip was more than i expected. Coming down west bend(i think thats what its called) the suspension loaded pushing the car into the ground allowing it to turn so hard. Braking was more impressive. Whenever matt was hard on the brakes i was tosses forward with the smell of pads coming into the cabin. If the harnesses werent there i would have been through the windsheild. Matt, any idea on the type of g forces the car was pulling in the corners or under braking, im really curious. Thanks again to matt for the ride and will for letting me hang around the trailer. It was nice to meet both of u, it was also nice to meet adam, anthony, doug, ricky and anyone else i may have forgotten. I had a really good time and i cant wait till the glen.

Lou, I WISH I had my upgraded brakes, more like crappy brakes. I guess having lousy brakes has helped me drive faster cus I have learned to rely on the brakes less :-) Getting the big brakes by the end of the month I hope. Then I hope to see 1:00 at LRP on Sept 7. By the end of the day, just before my brakes packed up & left me for good & made me take the escape road at the end of the front straight, I was running consistent 1:03 & a few 1:02s now & then :-)

William H. Was that you in the black 512TR? I clocked it at a 1:05 right in the middle of the Challange car crowd. You have upgraded brakes-right? They are the weak point of my 512TR in Florida. Who was that instructor in the dark blue Z06? He was doing 58sec laps! I was running the silver 360 spider in Blue.

Jon, we were not using the chicane at our event. The 59.8 was using the chicane. If Im not mistaken, I thought the 335 Challenge cars were running in the 58's (Im not sure about the chicane with those times).
I will be at the Glen for the 5 days starting Aug. 30th. Bring your parts, and we have every tool you may need.
I think there were around 7 355 Challenge cars there. It was a good show.
Kenny, awesome job pal.
Rob, think FerrariChat can spare $350,000+ for sponsorship this coming season??
p.s. the racing zen settled in while checking out the wildlife on the beaches in Australia....

Damn, Matt you're flying. You now own the unofficial track record at Lime Rock for a 355 C by a full second (Earle did a 59.8 something in practice in 99') and are a few tenths off the Glen record as well.

You really need to start racing. Find a sponsor or start playing the Powerball Lottery.

You sure you were sitting on the beach in Australia all winter? I am starting to wonder if you weren't getting some personal instruction from the Schumacher brothers instead. Sounds like you got the car dialed in the way you wanted.

With the market down over 400 points Thursday and Friday I now wish I had come to Lime Rock instead.

You hanging around for Trackmasters after the Glen event? I think they are scheduled for the following Monday and Tuesday. I might stay for the Monday session (might need to bring a extra supply of slicks, pads, and rotors).

Just curious what type of interesting machinery turned up and how many 355 C's were present.

See you at the end of the month.

Regards,

Jon P. Kofod

I know I can see 1:00 in my big truck :-) I was running about mid pack with the 355 Challenge guys. I think the 512TR surprised some Challenge drivers & I think 1 or 2 werent too thrilled with me passing them but I just ran away from them so it didnt matter :-)
I need to open the throttle up a little more on the downhill & corner before the uphill but itall takes a little more courage LOL

William is right in that the Lime Rock event was an awesome event!! We had so many hot cars screaming around the track. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of fellow FerrariChat-ers. As far as the car, as soon as I was able to dial out a bit of understeer, we were at one with eachother.
Check this one out Jon, I was clocked at 0:58.4 !!
I actually was turning sub one minute laps with Tim (FC) in my passenger seat. I have to apologize to Kenny for not setting him up in my car, or another car.
It was hot, the cars were hot, the women were hot, and a good time was had by all.
SEE YOU AT THE GLEN!!
