Hastings have a perfect replacement available, with bypass and check valve inside. Will work on 308/328/and BB.

Henry -- I should clarify (if your BBi uses 8-cyl filters) since I don't know the mounting arrangement. As Peter said below:

if your filters mount gasket end up -- B252 or B253 is OK.

if your filters mount gasket end down -- B253 is the better choice IMO.

Henry -- I'd be very surprised if your BBi uses something strange (you'd think the issue would have come up here before if it does). 2 ways to confirm:

1. The easy way -- What's the PN for the UFI filters you use on your BBi? If it matches up with the 8-cyl UFI PN you'll know the B252 or B253 is OK. (I have the 8-cyl UFI number as 100325 or 111782, and recently changed to 191993)

2. The hard way -- I've emailed the dimensions of the B253 to you that I received from Baldwin -- if you measure the male thread and flange ID/OD on the car you can confirm the fit.

(I sure wish the TR used the 2 "normal" filters rather than the 1 oversized special filter. It's still on my list to send a TR filter to Baldwin to see if they have an industrial equivalent -- but it's not at the top of the list.)

Go to Balwin filters on the internet. Then go to Baldwin Distributors. Type in zip and you will find your nearest dealer.

Would the Baldwin B253 also work on the BBi? Is this a readily available filter......like in any local auto store?

Thanks.

Been using the B253 on my 365bb for 20 years now, without any problems...

You could use a B252 instead (same as the B253, but without the standpipe for "normal" installations), but there is no problem using the B253 in this application.

TR's use a totally different thread and gasket size that doesn't match any standard in the industry.

I need to change the oil on my 512BB this weekend. The local truck supply place stocks the Baldwin B253. Fairly cheap vs. UFI, which is what I had been using. After reviewing all the search threads, I could not find any reference to where anyone was using these on a Boxer or TR. I know the Boxer filters are the same as the 308. Does anyone see a problem with using this filter on a Boxer? Remember it is installed from the bottom of the engine, open side up, 180 deg from a 308.
