BobD.
I haven't had the car delivered yet. The Ferrari deal who insoected the car informed me of the lose seatbacks and said that it would coost about $200 per seat to remove them and tighten up all of the bolts. He suggested that this would be a goo DIY project. Perhaps I will find that the play is within the tolerances that current owners have described as normal.

Just for the record, my seats also have about 1-2 inches of fall back with minimal pressure. It helps get in and out of the car which is a little bit of a trick when you are 6'1", 230.

Seatbacks loose? I believe there is an inch or 2 of play in 328 seatbacks.... at least both of mine fall back an inch or two when minimal pressure is applied. Russ, is this what you're talking about?

Russ,

The seat backs are attached with two black, anodized hex head bolts, one on either side. They run through a black nylon spacer into a threaded insert. My car came with one of these bolts broken. I had to drill it out, which was actually very easy. I found an exact metric replacement at Home Depot, of all places.

As far as removing the seats, it is easy, but there is a sequence. I cant remember if its better to remove the front bolts first, or the rear. I do remember this though, you have to slide the seat as far back as it will go in order to access the bolts. You really have to push hard to get the seat far back enough.

Hope this helps,

Len

I am taking delivery of an 88 328 next week and already know that the seatbacks are lose and require adjustment. Has anyone faced this problem who can give me some advice. I already am told that taking the seats out is simple with just four bolts under the seats to be loosened but am not sure what to do after that.
