Heath: My ferrari mechanic said that the "little" surging is the proper way for an '84 mondial to idle (I have an 84 Mondial). The surging is the fuel injection system constantly monitoring itself.

On my '84 308 QV I had problems passing the emissions and had similar symptoms. Looking at the car history, I realized that only 1 of the injectors had ever been replaced. Had the end caps of the plug wires replaced because they were original too. Had new injectors put in and passed emissions. The car also runs incredible. Just had dynoed and the HP and TRQ curves are perfect, no dips or hiccups. The original injectors were probably just dribbling out the fuel. Also, my MPG went up 2 MPG on the first tank of gas.

YO FELLOWS
MY 84 MONDIAL QV SEEMS TO IDLE NOT ROUGH BUT NOT SMOOTH SORT OF LIKE A LITTLE SURGEING. JUST INSTALLED NEW NKG PLATINUM PLUGS. THE CAR RUNS GREAT ON THE ROAD BUT AT IDLE IT JUST ISN'T SMOOTH. I SORT OF THINK IT IS ACTING LIKE A VACUME LEAK BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND ONE YET. CAN ANY OF YOU OFFER ANY IDEAS.
THANKS,
HEATH
