Brian, your suggestion solved the problem. The set screw didn't help me, but adjusting the allen screw did. Thanks! |

Jim, the screw should be set to hold the throttle plate and throttle position sensor correctly at idle. the idle speed is set then via the large allen screw on the side of the throttle body. it may be that the basic throttle plate setting was adjusted in error (ignorance?). |

Jim: My 328 also idled at 1500. I adjusted the idle adjustment knob as described in the manual. It did the trick. Check you manual and give it a try. Real easy. |

the idle adjustment knob on the mixture unit has limited range but may be off a little. another possibility is to check all hoses to the aux. air valve and the wires for heating the valve. if you pinch the hose between the air valve and the intake manifold and idle speed drops then its stuck open. something to try. good luck. |

I just got my 328 back from its 30k service and it's idling about 1500 rpms. I've twisted the set screw for the idle until it no longer even touches the throttle mechanism, so that isn't the culprit. Does anybody have any ideas? The people that serviced it have said they'll fix it, but I'd rather do it myself rather than drive back across town. It's not the floor mat either, that was the first thing I checked! |
