It is amazing that Enzo thought we were strong enough to shift a 5-speed gated manual (with that crazy stiff balky linkage) but we were unable to open the gas door. I am busy trying to figure out how to rig the gas door so that I can use it manually w//o the engine compartment. It is crazy the way they designed these door/hatch realeases. It seems like a junior summer camp project. My solution -- the 348 engine is AMAZING and indestructible --the handling is astonishing - esp. with longer wider car and much stiffer T Cab. I just ignore every other bad thing about the car -- which actually is every other thing about the car ( other than styling) I still think "T" stands for "tank" since this car takes some tough stuff in NYC but keeps going. WOuld love to hear a fix for some of the electrics though....none of my above the speedo/tac warning lights work at all..my clock does not work either ..any thoughts here from someone with electrical knowledge and patience to chase these mondial gremlins down.

JM, Of the five devices that open with switches, I'm batting 3 for 5. Glovebox and gas door don't work. Glovebox is OK, too small to use anyway. Gas door is OK since I have to open the engine compartment evertyime I get gas...bummer! Car runs great. I'm willing to suffer. You are not alone.

Thanks Sam,
Somehow I feel comforted by the fact that someone else is having the same problems. Just like I read in an other thread we tend to forget how old the F cars we drive are. Mine is 14 years old. But I tell you, by the looks of it and the sweet V8 sound they are ageless beauties.

Hey JM,

Welcome to the club. I still don't understand how a non-British car can have such unrealiable electrics. I replaced all the selanoids that pull on cables that release the doors you describe. they are all the same ones. My result was 50%. The gas door and the front hood still don't work reliably ( gas door is a pain). suggestions: clean all contacts ..even the switches. Lubricate the selanoids. check alignmnet of the cables and the selaniods (usually you can listen and you will hear that the selaniods don't even actuate)
Make sure the selanoids are getting power, enough power that is.

Lastly, don't even bother with the switches, I treat them as if they are just for show, like in a toy pedal car and I use the emergency backup cable releases all the time. The selanoids are expensive and I found not worth it, they rarely solve the problem,

I am sure a Mondial owner knows why sometimes you can open the hood, trunk and engine compartment by pressing the buttons on the dashboard and at other times you must release them manually. Needless to say it is driving me nuts. Also blew a couple fuses for RH elecric window do I have a bad relay ? Thanks in advance.
