Check out SL Competition. They helped me sourced a replacement 348/355 Challenge wheel about a year ago. http://www.garedcars.com |

Carbon fiber replacements sound nice. If you know the contact details of a shop that can supply them, please let me know. Thanks! |

The '95 I had did not exhibit this problem. The '98 I have just starting getting sticky within the last 5 months. So much for improvement of the breed. I have heard of carbon fiber replacements, but am not aware of the cost. Who are all these people complaining about C5 interiors? |

The humidity and sunshine cause sounds plausible. I live in Hong Kong, which is hot, humid, and next to the sea.

And yet they say the Corvette has a cheap interior. DUH! |

well, not sure i'd use the word "normal". it seems to happen to southern cars that get a lot of sunshine and a lot of humidity and salt water may exacerbate it. i'ven ever gotten a thorough answer. this seems to be related to the sticky/gooey plastic problem, for which solutions have been posted here (the most informative by martin, i believe). in my searching for spiders, i only saw one or two cars with actual melting/warping of the plastic. imo, this wasn't a standard ageing defect. if you just have the gooey/sticky stuff, they can fix it with a good scrubbing (apparently). if you have melting/warping plastic you're obviously in a messier state. replacing all the plastic will apparently run you $2000 - $2500 at a dealer (no clue on parts -vs- labor breakdown). no clues on aftermarket stuff, sorry. doody. |

I am looking at this 95 355. I like it in every way except for the "melting" plastic in the interior. I read somewhere in Ferrarichat, I think, that 355 has this issue and is normal. If I decide to buy, the dealer said they can spray it over, which I think is a temporary fix anyway. Are there aftermarket spares that I can buy to replace the plastic ones in the car? If so, will they be made of aluminum, which I think would look really nice? Comments please. Thanks! |
