I got 300,000 miles out of my 280ZX and 100,000 miles on my 911 and neither one was leaking when I sold them. I would say Castrol 20W50 works pretty good! |

Once, again, thank you all for the input. It seems a concensus that it is fine and I'm going ahead with it.

My independent mechanic recommended Castrol only (non-synthetic) for my QV. He's happy, and I'm happy. Now...what to do with all these cases of Agip 10W-40 sitting in my garage? .

Castrol is pretty good stuff. I use it in all of my Jags. For the 308 I use Valvoline 20W-50 Racing oil. Works good for me. |

Ditto on the Kendall 20W/50. That is what my mechanic reccomends for my 308GT4. I have not personally heard anything negative regarding Castrol and would feel very comfortable putting it in any of my vehicles. |

Bill, and Ed It is just a matter of personal preference. Someone I was talking to at the machine shop where I rebuilt my engine went thumbs down on castrol. I found it totally fine, and actually put it in my Ferrari to wash out all the gunk after the rebuild. I do prefer Kendall, and will continue to use that long term on my cars.

Whatever bad things that anyone has heard about Castrol are BUNK I have used it professionally for over 20 years and have NEVER had a problem with it or any other brand of oil for that matter. |

I don't think it really matters so long as you change it frequently. I've used 20W-50 Havoline in my 328 since 1988. No problems. |

I was told bad things about castrol but I think it is just a matter of personal preference. I bet it is good enough. My preference is Kendall 20-50, for my Ferrari, my Porsche, my M3, and whatever highperformance mobiles I have. My wife lexus gets whatever stuff that happens to be on sale. |

I prefer the synthetic stuff, but there should be no problem. I know the local Ferrari mechanic in Tacoma, WA recommends 20w-50 for most of the 308/328/Mondial series.... |

Does anyone think that there would be any problem using 20w50 wt Castrol (non-synthetic) in an '85 308--especially in the summer months? I have a case of the stuff and wanted to ask the experts before using it in my new baby. |
