Peter, Do the job right and replace the part. Your engine will run the best if the parts are returned to the factory specs. I have a 328 that I learned how to tune completely. Your car will start, warm-up, and run the best if this device is working properly and your idle stop screw and mixture screw are set correctly. I have a used aux-air valve that works fine and will sell for half of new if you would like- just need to double check the numbers, but I beleive it's identical to yours. I completely understand the desire to modify parts and repair as necessary, but for the long-haul,your best bet is to do it right. Good luck, Jim Christian |

To Steve, Thanks for the resource but I am trying to be the "enthusiast" and repair what I have. :^) To Edward, My ignorance in this area means that I wouldn't have thought of that! Perhaps that is a good way to go, thanks! PC |

Why don't you add a restrictor in the hose from the valve and not touch the valve? You can experiment with a wooden dowel and drill a hole in it and taylor it to your satisfaction. |

Peter -- (I know you're on the other side of the planet, but) these guys show that Bosch part number for $166: http://www.importeccatalog.com (a great reference from another FChatter) Are there no similar Bosch "import" sources on your continent?

Hi, I have a "modified" aux air valve in my Mondial 3.2 (located under the coolant resevoir in the engine bay) which a previous owner has filed so that the gap is bigger than standard so my car idles way too high once it is warm. If I adjust the idle down to compensate then when the engine gets warm and this devices closes then the engine virtually stalls at idle. I was thinking about getting a welder to braze the gap back to factory spec but have no idea what this should be , any clues? I have attached pictures of the unit in it's modified state. I did try to buy one of these suckers from Ferrari in Australia, forget it! Bosch Australia can get it in as a special order from Germany but you can kiss 500 bucks away and wait 2-3 months. Personally, I would prefer to weld it over and start again as the unit appears to work ok but should it be closed completely or have some gap? I just don't know. PC http://fly.to/mondial
