I had just went through the same problem in replacing the clutch on my 91 348. Based on my research the throwout bearing never changed, instead ferrari kept changing the part number and hence kept increasing the prices.

Give Gino a call at AW Imports 800-631-5589, he has one at a very reasonable price, tell him Chris Au referred you.

Sam,

These are my pals. I am 90% sure these are available. Does your bearing have a part number or do you have a part# on the conversion kit. I can check. Also you can really save trouble by rebuilding the bearing. There are aerospace guys all over So. Cal who do this. Example Spherics in Gardena California. Last time I did this it was about 60 bucks.

I have seen several tech bulletins on the 348 upgrade. I have never heard of a "355 upgrade". Personally I put the latest 348 dual setup in my car about 5 years ago too. I have not heard of a new one since. Last time I looked (for a friend) about 3 mons ago the bearing was still available from pals in italy. You also can rebuild bearings.

I have done the "355 upgrade" about five years ago but apparrently, there has been yet another upgrade that supercedes my last upgrade so they no longer sell the bearing alone for the previous (my) upgrade.

I am told there is no ferrari solution other than doing the current upgrade for $1000.

There is an updated single and dual disc setup for the 348. The parts are available including the T/O bearing if you have the latest T/O bearing housing. If you don't then there is still a way to get around this problem by rebuilding the T/O bearing and resurfacing the clutch faces. Do you know if you have the updated system or are you still on the orignal dual disc setup with original T/O bearing?

have you tried sizing your current bearing and enquiring with some proprietary bearing manufacturers/suppliers? Someone must be getting bearings from somewhere to fit into the 'entire housing' that is being sold (that is unless the whole design is now different)

OK, My clutch on my 348 (mondial T) gave out (it lasted about 5 years) I purchased a double disc from rutlands but they are telling me that there in no T/O bearing available any longer and that I am forced to purchase the entire housing (now made out of aluminum) at a price of about 1000!

This is crazy (I have the 355 upgrade for the clutch..my flywheel is fine) anyone have any ideas on what to do, I have to do this asap so that I can enjoy the car this summer.

price availability expereince ..all welcome
thanks
