Rob,

I take it you would not like the mud grips I have on my 348ts.

This is only after being involved with autocrossing and club racing that I've thought about it...

1) I only put about 3k miles on the Ferrari a year.
2) I hardly ever drive it in the rain.
3) I prefer performance driving.

With that said I have learned how much a set of soft tires make on the handling of the car. I had very soft Yokohoma AVS Sports (180 tread rating) on my BMW and when autocrossing with Kuhmo V700s (50 tread rating) I was improving 2-3 seconds per 45 second run.

Several of those racing tires, like the V700s are DOT approved and can be used on the street. They just have a little tread and I wouldn't want to use them in the rain. With the low miles we put on the Ferrari, the tires will get old and hard before the tread ever wears out. Wouldn't it make sense to put some nice soft shoes on them. Maybe not 50 tread racing tires, but there are several 80-120 tread rating tires out there.

Anyone putting hard all weather tires on their Ferrari should be reported to the F.P.S..
