the old school hotrodders used to put spark plugs near the end of the tail pipes, and rig up a shift that would cut the main coil, let the fuel run through the pipes and then ignite by the other spark plug! didn't know the "import tuner" crowd was into this too, ha!

lol Ed,

Consider yourself lucky. THere are a bunch of ricer kids in this city that have rigged up spark plugs in the tips of their exhaust in their attempt to get the "Fast'n Furious" flames out the back of their cars.

I took the cats and muffler off my F40 and it does the same thing. I do believe it is because it is burning all the excess fuel. could catch fire I guess. my mechanic says nothing to worry about as far as the motor goes. I just wish I could see it on mine everytime I shift. my son was following me and he said everytime I shift it shoots about a 4' flame out the back.

Ever since I put test pipes in my 95 355 and would floor the car, occasionally I would hear a loud pop. Tonight I let my brother drive while I was following him. Every time it would pop it would shoot out flames. Now while I think that is one of the coolest sights, can something go wrong when this happens. Does this affect the engine in a negative way or is it because since I no longer have the cats and it runs a bit richer now? Thanks for the info. I just do not want to harm the engine.
