Last time I purchased Ferrari parts I was not happy with customer service. I wrote a letter to the owner complaining about it. I had recorded dates and times so I had it well documented. While the owner never contacted me, the office manager did. The problem was resolved to my satisfaction.

Steve, you are right, shipping can really jack up the price. But it really depends on how much the part is being charged locally. My TRX tires from the states are still much cheaper with FedEx than to buy locally. Not to mention the much quicker turnaround time.

G Evans is good - but if you're outside the States watch out. I got stung on the shipping.

I have found Italian Car Parts to be higher than some dealer prices. You are correct they are very pricey.

Peter: www.italiancarparts.com has excellent quality, but can be a bit pricey. The owner, Charles DeGroat is a Ferrari owner himself. They do have some unique items you can't get elsewhere.

Mitchell, I couldn't agree with you more. I have dealt with G.T. car parts and their prices have been best all around. The quality of the parts is no.1 and the service has been great. And yes Bill is a nice guy. How's the installation going?

Mitchell, do you know the fax number or email address for GT Car Parts? Time difference makes calling them quite a hassle. Thanks!

Very informative, Mitchell, thanks! Just to clarify it a bit more, by package/parts presentation, I mean the appearance of the stuff. Do the parts look old, dusty, or spanking new? Of course, this depends on whether new or used parts are ordered. Does the packaging look totally banged up (understand this may be more of a shipping company issue than the parts supplier issue), but I have seen more than my fair share of people shipping things without using the proper packaging.

One more thing, for any parts supplier recommended, please include their contact details as well. Thanks!

I have only dealt with GT Car Parts all through my huge rebuild for the last 6 months. I can say that

1. Price is right, much better than dealer
2. Parts availability is excellent, 95% stock
3. Order turn around time is up to you, you can pay for 1 day turn around time, or wait 3 days. I have had 3 orders out of 20 that I have to call and remind them. It seems they forget to send them 15% of the time
4. Package /parts presentation is zilch. You order it, you should know what it looks like. I ordered an engine seal kit and the whole thing came in a bundle. After I am done, I have one Oil seal left over, 10 various orings unused, and I have absolutely no ideas where they are used. I am very sure everything I needed was replaced. Took me the longest time to figure out the water pump seals (2 of), the differential oil seals (2 of). There are two small gaskets that I have no idea what they are. I think there may be some options on these stuff and they just send you both options (because you order a kit) and not ask you what you have (because you may not actually know at the time of ordering).
5. GREAT sales attitude. Can do, will do, shall do everything to take care of you.
6. Returns no questions asked, prompt refund on your credit cards, very flexible on this policy, and very fair.

Finally, the quality of the parts is above average. The gasket material is after market and seems a bit cheaper in quality. Works the same though, but don't take it out too many times. The head gaskets are great to good depending on what you order, and you really should have some experience while ordering head gaskets. It is $100 a piece, one time use only, so any mishap (I had two) and it costs.

They even have a huge selection of used stuff that they can sell you if the price of the new stuff is too much to bear, or if they don't have the new stuff (no longer made), or if you just want something used.

Ask for BILL, he is a GREAT man.

I would rate them a 4 star.

Yeah, the 7.8:1 exchange rate is pretty deceiving. On top of the service costs, figure in the stratespheric price of gas here, keeping F-cars running becomes pretty heavy. But then again, owning your dream car is priceless.

Sorry Randolf, I think you need to come to HK to understand the sky-high prices here. See my post 3 months ago about my Mondial's repair bill and the members' responses. The labor alone for the Mondial's major service cost me about US$2500. This is not even from the authorized dealer.

Get this, the authorized dealer charged somebody over US$15,000 (labor alone) for a side accident repair job on an F355 without engine work!!

Peter parts could be very pricy when you need to buy them there but you make up the savings in labor in HongKong compared here in the U.S. for example a major service for my boxer could run from $3,600-$5,000 depending what else is needed when you convert that to HongKong $$ you what i mean. In Manila you could have a mechanic work on a Ferrari for $50.00 U.S. all day.

Randolf, that's surprising! But then again, I guess your dad just can't stand the waiting time and the relatively higher cost of shipping from the US or Europe.

From my personal experience, buying from the states is fine if you deal with the right people. I just bought a pair of hard-to-find TRXs for the Mondial from Coker Tires in the US. I received the tires in 9 days after placing the order on the net. Guess the cost? My dumbass shop in HK quoted me over US$500 per tire and still can't get them for me after 3 months. My cost from Coker? About US$323/tire including FedEx shipping. Not bad eh?

Peter i know how much parts in Hong Kong are when my Father needs parts for his Ferrari in the Phillipines and cant wait for me to get it, he buys them from the dealer in HongKong and ships them air freight.

I don't know if this has been done before, but I think it would be very helpful to all chat memebers, especially those living outside the US and Europe. Here in Hong Kong, we get outrageous prices for Ferrari parts because we can't comparison shop.

I think a simple 5-star rating system (like for hotels) should be straightforward enough based on the following criteria:

1. Price
2. Parts availability
3. Order turnaround time
4. Package/parts presentation (how do the package and parts look when you receive them)
5. Sales attitude
6. Returns/refund policy

Thanks!!
