Works the same with your oil radiator.

When they talk about "rod out" it means to remove at least one tank and push a rod or wire through core tubes. They usually would only do that if it still had flow restriction after being "boiled out", which is an acid cleaning. Both work only with brass radiators. The thing is radiators are not forever, they corrode. The oxide is a good insulator so the heat stays in the water instead of going out into the air and your car overheats. If the temp is running normal, leave it alone. If it is running too hot you can replace the radiator so try to save the old one by boiling it out. If it leaks when theyre done, well it was already bad so you have only lost the $50, if it works, you saved $1000. You can usually clean them a couple times before they are shot. Good luck.

I've heard this term used a couple of times...what does it mean? does it mean just to "boil" it out with some kind of acid to get the crap out of it or does it mean to recore? I am a little concerned about doing a boil out on my radiator as I have heard stories of leaks developing in short order.
