It turned out Kraegen had a sale on engine hoist so I just bought one. In the last 2 years, I have needed it 3 - 4 times and it is much better than the "hook in the ceiling bit." So, I am anxious to get it going again. With the engine on a dolly, I already tested for compression, coolant jacket sealing, and positive oil pressure. The timing was set (still on points and condensor, and debating whether to switch to Crane Cams to get it fired up). All of which were good. So, now I need gas, and air, and it should FIRE. |

Hey buddy, now you can sleep better tonight. But you won't sleep the night you fire it up because your emotions will be so high it will take you a week to get back to normal. |

With 3 other friemds, the 4 of us managed to squeed that engine back in the GT4 in 90 minutes this afternoon. It was a success, no damage to the body, no damage to the engine, and no one lost any fingers. A few lessons were learned: No dip stick installed before hand, need an extremely long cherry picker (We had to remove the bumper for an extra 3 inches), and doing it on perfectly flat driveway is better than slopping (even a little bit). Other than that, it was tough but doable. After the engine went in, we removed the chain(s) and quit for a beer while we were ahead. I will finish up the buttoning up this week. I will keep you posted. My digital camera died so I cannot take any digital photos. I scanned some other 35 mm pictures but the quality is too poor for posting. Sorry about that. |
