Mitchell -- (This is for a GTB/S, but) I think it's not a case of 2 large wires going "to" the starter motor, but rather, power coming to the starter motor from the battery on the "35" wire and then a "10" wire returning power from the starter motor back to run the fusepanel stuff -- i.e., connecting the battery to the fusepanel. Per the 308GTB/S schematic there should be three large wires attached to the starter motor lug:

1. "35" from the battery to starter
2. "10" from the starter to the fusepanel
3. "10" from the starter to the alternator

If you've got a 308GT4 OM the schematic should be in the back.

(I didn't see that Bob C. had already posted this before posting my message.)

Just did an alternator rebuild on my 79 308, there are 3 lugs connected to the starter one fron the alternator two from the main harness.

I am putting back the pieces on the GT4. There is one major wire loom coming from the front of the car to the engine. It has some smaller wires (one is a solenoid wire), and it has 2 large wires. I can see that at least one goes to the starter to pick up the 12V from the battery. Where does the other big wire go? It seems counter-intuitive to have both connectors go to the +12V of the starter terminal.

Any help is appreciated.
