No problem Scott. Hey Hans, I have a picture of everything, since I've had EVERYTHING out of my car (and more than once too). |

Peter thank you very much. My problem is/was that the inner bearing was completly destroyed so it was hard to tell "what was what" down in the impeller end of the housing. I wont be able to work on it untill next week, I hope you wont mind if I e-mail you if I have further questions, thanks again, scott |

1. Press out the shaft toward the impeller side, the seals should follow the shaft. 2. Punch out the bearing (at the front) from the back 3. Remove the spacer 4. Remove the Circlip from the front of the pulley side of the pump (the front) 5. Press out the innner bearing toward the front of the pump. I used white grease on the bearing inner races, the faces of the seals (for the impeller side).

When I took apart my water pump the inner bearing was almost non-existent, basically just fell apart. Anyway with what's left in the pump housing I cant tell or don't know how to get whats left of the inner bearing out as well as the new one in. Does it come out the bottom (end with the impeller) or does it slide all the way down the housing from the pully end? There is/was a "spring" clip that went in a notch in the housing so I sort of think the inner has to slide all the way down from the pulley end and is then held in by the spring clip as well as the spacer tube that goes over the shaft between the two bearings. If anyone has any pics or procedure it would be great, I tried the archives but didn't really come up with anything..My car is an 80 GTSi. Also does anyone have any recomendations for grease/lube for the shaft? Thank you Scott |
