Steve, Yep, the bottom picture is of the old commector/lockring which broke. The top picture is the new part that I purchased that has the beefier lockring. The lockrings and both halves of the connector, are interchangeable/compatablie with the original part. HTH Scott |

Scott -- Great find! I went thru the hassle of designing/fabbing aluminum replacements just thinking they were unobtainium:
Just curious if the lock-ring on the C12 connector you bought looks like the top -1 & -2 version in this drawing: http://catalog.tycoelectronics.com/TE/docs/pdf/8/44/186448.pdf IIRC, the bottom version (-3) in the drawing is the stock TR part (although it must have previously been called -1 at some time). I checked and the smaller C13 connector is AMP 182645-1: http://catalog.tycoelectronics.com/TE/docs/pdf/4/76/197674.pdf doh! |

Ben, Good news. I carefully removed the lockring and there was an AMP part number stamped on the connector. A quick trip to the electronics supply store and I had 4 of the connectors (never hurts to have a couple spares). The connectors cost $3.00 each, and the lock ring has been redesigned to be quite a bit beefier (guess they had problems with them breaking!). You can carefully take the lockring off the new connector and it fits the old connector perfectly. Took more time to type this than it did to fix it. AMP part number is AMP 206837-1. HTH Scott |

2 words for you - Hose clamp. Not trying to sound too sarcastic, I am serious. I'm pretty sure that's what went on mine when it broke. -Ben

While I was looking for the cause of a slightly rough idle, I found that the lock ring on the large round connector back near the 2 ECU boxes on my TR is broken. After pulling it off, cleaning the connectors and plugging it back in, my idle smoothed right up. Unfortunatly not being able to lock the connector down, I cant help but believe it will soon vibrate loose again. Does anyone know if you can purchase the connector/lockring or just the lockring. Ive looked in the SPC but it doesnt even show the connector, so I dont know what the part # is. TIA Scott |
