myles -- I'd just contact one of the discount F suppliers (ferraripartsexchange, t. rutlands, etc.) first. If you've got an SPC and/or the old parts and know exactly what you need, then you can try looking around, but you're just trading time for $ IMO. For example, go:

http://www.worldwidecarparts.com
Audi
1989
90 5cyl
Fuel Injection
Fuel Injection Seal
Green

I think that's one of the parts you'll need, but then aren't there smaller o-rings too? No need to get heroic on this IMO.

Not sure Steve....I'm just getting the old ones out now...and destroying the seals in the process....still have yet to order the new injectors....was just curious if the seal is available or if it's one of those impossible to find parts before I go any further.

myles -- A lot of imports (VW, Audi, etc.) use K-Jetronic so any import auto parts store (or website) is probably a reasonable source. Are the usual F discount part supplier prices unreasonable?

OK......slowly getting my injectors out....this is a nightmare. Here's my new question....is the rubber gasket that seals the injector to the threaded aluminum "slug" available aftermarket and if so where? BTW my in jectors are the "screw in" kind...in theory. Thanks for the help.

re: removing the old injector. I used a press.
of course, I didn't care what happened to the
tip on the old injector.

a bench vise and a deep well socket should work
also.

Yep...as you can see we have two completely different methods of retaining the injector. I was able to get one of mine out. It unscrewed from the manifold with the threaded aluminum slug attached....so now the question is...how do you remove the actual injector from the aluminum slug? OK Myles, Here are the pics of my injectors. You can see, they appear to be retained by the intake differently. They are plunged into a heavy rubber grommet then secured with a retaining ring.

Myles,
Tomorrow, I promise to take a photo of my injectors for you. Pull it straight up? Well, maybe, I would take care here not to damage anything. You can feel free to call me. My # is (901) 526-0560. I think we can figure it out.

Thanks for the ideas guys and the great pics Jeff. I too think ours are slightly different for some strange reason....my problem is the injector itself just spins and the metal washer...slug....round piece of tapped metal...whatever you want to call it...just stays frozen in the intake. I don't see any signs of a retaining clip....think I should just try pulling straight up on the injector itself? Thanks for all the help!

I cleaned the electrical ones on one of my cars by attaching a tube filled with 50/50 Techron and gasoline to the injector. The other end of the tube was attached to my air compressor set to 50 psi which is the fuel pressure on that car. Jumper leads were then attached to wires that ran a distance AWAY from the injector. I would touch the circuit on/off opening the valve intermittently. A large piece of cardboard was set near the business end so I could check pattern of spray. Since all sprayed the same, I assumed all was fine so I reinstalled them. For your injectors, you don't need the electrical connection. Don't burn your house down if you do this. Besides pattern, I was looking for dribble.

Actually, these injectors are pretty much the same as those in my 1980 Mercedes. The factory manual shows a picture of a test where you squirt them (one at a time) into a can while cranking the engine with the coil wire grounded. It advises you not to smoke when you do this. They are looking for atomization, not a stream.

Miles,
When I had my 308 engine apart, (as you do), I also replaced all the injectors.
http://community.webshots.com/user/jeffedison
See winter time refreshing.
My injectors look just a little different than yours; I don't understand why, (mines a 1985 QV Euro). On mine, the injectors are held to a rubber grommet in place with a snap ring and simply pull straight out. I'd look closely at these. Perhaps the snap ring is benieth this metal band lining your intake at the base of the injector. If I could remove this "fat looking washer", I'd try unscrewing your fuel injection line, and applying a nice tug straight up, (Of course without enough force to damage anything). If you run into problems here, let me know I'll email you a snapshot of my injectors.
Can they be cleaned? I'd say yes, they are simply brass mechanical units, they are not complicated. I bought new ones from www.fuelinjectionwharehouse.com
I beleive that is the url.

OK, have the intake off my 84 308qv and want to replace the injectors while I have everything apart. Mine appear to unscrew...however when I rotate the 12mm injector body...just the injector spins...not the aluminum boss that screws into the intake manifold. Anyone have any ideas?injector
